New adventures raising chickens. My how fast we grow! April 30, 2014. Only two weeks old now and they are already so big! It amazes me how fast they grow! Their baby fuzz is already starting to turn into feathers! Of course if all I did is eat and poop I guess I would grow that fast too! Next Post →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Happy Easter | crazychickenchick

https://crazychickenchick.wordpress.com/2014/04/21/happy-easter

New adventures raising chickens. April 21, 2014. The chicks are here! I have wanted chicks for months. Shaun and I started our chicken adventure back in October. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching them grow and watching their funny antics. Yesterday Shaun brought home 4 baby chicks. They are so tiny! I think they are better than puppy dogs! Of course I have never raised baby chicks so every day will be a learning adventure but I am so excited to start my adventure as the crazy chicken chick!

Fresh Eggs | crazychickenchick

https://crazychickenchick.wordpress.com/2014/05/04/fresh-eggs

New adventures raising chickens. May 4, 2014. But good news, they washed/cleaned right up! 🙂 So now I have more things to research. 1. How to store the eggs. 2. How long do they keep. etc. I love watching the chickens everyday and I am looking forward to learning more about this country life as I go! May 4, 2014 at 3:26 am. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. The Morning After | Dev-hen's Brood

https://devhensbrood.wordpress.com/2014/05/25/the-morning-after

Raising 2 Families in 1 Yard. May 25, 2014. July 4, 2014. Last night it was with heavy heart and great anxiety that I put my chicks in the coop for the night. This morning it was with great embarrassment and feelings of neglect that I woke up realizing I slept like a rock last night. So much so that I didn’t even check on them once! What a poor mother hen I am! Looks like dinner will be coming to them! Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window). The Eggs an...

Raising 2 Families in 1 Yard. July 13, 2014. By Lauren Scheuer. Jordan loved that book – especially Hatsy, the Golden Buff chicken, and all of her funny antics. She said we had to have a “Lucy” in our flock and when we ordered a Barred Rock like Lucy, she named it Hatsy after her favorite character. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). https://devhensbrood.wordpress.com/2014/05/16/jail-break

Raising 2 Families in 1 Yard. May 16, 2014. May 21, 2014. They check all the nooks in the brooder, sizing up the best route out. Learning where the weak spots were. And they found one when I go to clean the feed and water font. When I clean them, I slide the screen covering the top open to take it out and leave it open a bit. When I brought the water back, I saw this waiting for me:. 8221; Possibly…. Sneaky little chicks! Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Click to email (Opens in new window).

Raising 2 Families in 1 Yard. April 28th our 6 chicks were born at the Meyer Hatchery in Ohio and began their journey to our house. I wanted a diverse flock so I bought “one of each” of the breeds I felt were not only family friendly but good layers. Captain the Cochin Hatsy the Plymouth Barred Rock. Oreo the Black Australorp Peaches the Buff Orpington. Sammy the Easter Egger Stretch the Golden Buff. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window). Roosting | Dev-hen's Brood

https://devhensbrood.wordpress.com/2014/06/03/roosting

Raising 2 Families in 1 Yard. June 3, 2014. July 4, 2014. I know that chickens and most birds for that matter like to roost to sleep. I had made the girls a low roosting bar in their brooder to “practice” on, but, I truly learned the importance and instinct they have to roost when they moved out to the coop and run. I came out side one afternoon and saw this:. It was so cute to come outside and see them side by side resting in the sun. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Our Dogs | Dev-hen's Brood

https://devhensbrood.wordpress.com/our-pets

Raising 2 Families in 1 Yard. We have 2 Beagle/Feist mix brothers, Buddy and Buster. Feist? Feist is a terrier-ish squirrel hunting dog from the South. We got them from a rescue group in the Minneapolis area, MARS – Midwest Animal Rescue, and they are 6 years young. It is hard to believe by looking at them that they were from the same litter. Raising 2 Families in 1 Yard. June 7, 2014. July 4, 2014. They all went to the coop. I opened the main door to the coop to check the inside temperature (Captain still does not have all her feathers) and did a quick head count. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. What? Sometimes when the black birds are close to each other they look like one so I better recount. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. I have 6 chicks! I didn’t even think it was possible to roost up there. I wasn’t sure if she was stuck up there or enjoyed it. I lo...Click to email (O...

Which Chick Grew”. She’s so cute! So what was the results? Jordan won first prize! She is sooo not cooperating with me here). Oh, what was the result of her study?
