wrestling entropy: Best Music of 2007
http://wrestlingentropy.blogspot.com/2007/12/best-music-of-2007.html
Friday, December 28, 2007. Best Music of 2007. Allrightallrightallrightallright. I've made you wait for this long, so let's just get straight to the good stuff, eh? Below I give you notes on my 2007 year-end mix, which I'm calling Minus the Drama and the Fraud. As it was in 2004. The CD version is a gift, and the list version is a simplified but fairly accurate summary of my year in music. Oh, and number one album: Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? After the Pitchfork Music Festival. Of a similarly c...

Wednesday, May 20, 2009. Well, Hello There, Stranger! I have to catch you up on all the fabulous goings-on around these parts lately. Usually when this blog is quiet, it's just because I'm being a lazy-pants, but this time it's actually because I've been too damn busy. To sit down and write (in addition to being a lazy-pants). We gotta get through this briefly or we'll be here all day:. The Flight of the Conchords, Live at the Arie Crown Theater. When I visited my brother in San Francisco last year.

wrestling entropy: Inglourious Basterds and the Year in Film
http://wrestlingentropy.blogspot.com/2009/12/inglourious-basterds-and-year-in-film.html
Monday, December 28, 2009. And the Year in Film. It probably goes without saying that Inglourious Basterds. Was one of my favorite movies this year. I'm not sure that it beats out Kill Bill. For my fave Tarantino of the '00s (I was just bowled over by what he accomplished with that film, esp. after revisiting it this summer), but it was unquestionably a highlight in the rather dull year that '09 was, for me, for movies. Put it, "No one, at this point, needs to be educated about the Nazis or the Holocaust...

wrestling entropy: Best Music of 2006
http://wrestlingentropy.blogspot.com/2006/12/best-music-of-2006.html
Saturday, December 23, 2006. Best Music of 2006. Well, my bebes, as 2006's year-end list-making extravaganza swells. To positively orgiastic proportions, I simply cannot withhold the track listing of my third. Best-of mix CD any longer. The physical copies of the disks are slow in coming on account of my lamentable slothiness in getting the liner notes text to Mr. monkey.press. I'm calling the comp O Unfathomable Firmament. 1 When You Wasn’t Famous- The Streets. 2 We Used to Vacation- Cold War Kids.

From a greazy griddle: texas grind
http://greazygriddle.blogspot.com/2008/11/texas-grind.html
From a greazy griddle. Stuff and other whatnot. Tuesday, November 25, 2008. San Antonio was sunny, busy, warmer than here, and one day, downright hot. I stayed on the River Walk, which is super touristy at night but quite pretty all the same. It almost manages to be the right kind of river for me. If only it was a little less Hard Rock Cafe and a little more Yuri Jazz Cafe. I had some trouble finding things that I could eat, so a few meals consisted of bloody marys. My hotel had a snack bar called Muggs&...

From a greazy griddle. Stuff and other whatnot. Tuesday, November 18, 2008. Bad dumb poem made while lying on my back, laptop on my stomach. I cannot feel my toes. My glove is soaked in gasoline. From a leaky hose. Don't want to pack a suitcase. Or be a good fore-planner. Just want to get to San Antone,. Come back a little tanner. That, and will I find things to eat? Going out to eat has become not that fun to me. And it's Texas. (sorry, Jen). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Read us, too.

wrestling entropy: Fat February
http://wrestlingentropy.blogspot.com/2010/02/fat-february.html
Sunday, February 21, 2010. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise, kittens: this is the best time of year. Oh sure, the weather is bullshit and the winter weight gain is in full effect, but: the early darkness! The implicit permission to avoid social engagements in favor of reading books on your couch and going out to movies alone! It's easy to bitch about the craptacular nature of February- and I do, often- but really, I'm having a blast. A quiet, sleepy, fat blast. Was also extremely well used here.
