hope & salvage: November 2013
http://www.hopeandsalvage.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 30, 2013. Two of a kind. I've had two curio cabinets in my 'studio' awaiting a final decision on color for a few weeks now. One was missing the front glass due to breakage in a move. At first Kathleen was leaning toward a 'greyish charcoal', but my procrastination on not jumping on the first color selection, lead to a S U R P R I S E choice. Here is a before of the glassed front cabinet. And the glass-less one. A couple of views of the top portion. This has been on the ground for the p...

hope & salvage: The Nationality Box

Wednesday, August 24, 2016. This discarded, old oak box with neither top nor bottom was given to me by my friend, Ken. [You are always in my prayers] He rescued it from the Mall of. Aka, the curb. Well, Grandson Liam just graduated from high school and is already playing college soccer. I had no bucks for a gift so this became "it". I call it The Nationality Box. These next photos are taken in his dorm room and filled with supplies that his mother gave him, not me.]. The day the order was issued to eradi...

hope & salvage: For the love of lath
http://www.hopeandsalvage.com/2016/06/for-love-of-lath.html
Sunday, June 5, 2016. For the love of lath. A few years ago when I was making the six week, daily trip to the hospital for radiation, I found out about a house in Cleveland Heights that was scheduled for the wrecker's ball in few days. The builder, needed to gut the mansion in a short time and build a much larger house on that and the neighboring lot. To pay for the removal of items that they in turn would sell for profit (? A little paint, some sanding, foam padding and some herringbone tweed fabric.

hope & salvage: September 2015
http://www.hopeandsalvage.com/2015_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 25, 2015. Life on a tilt. Does the dust ever quit? Sawdust I mean. It's everywhere. My sister just parted with my dad's old industrial finish sander. It's the same one I used on her beach dining room table last year. It sands in less than half the time, and creates twice the dust. I can only use it every other day as it is so heavy my hands need a day to recover from lifting it. I wish I would have taken a money shot of a finished one, but this is all I've got. I love this dresser. ...

hope & salvage: Blessings out the wazoo
http://www.hopeandsalvage.com/2016/05/blessings-out-wazoo.html
Wednesday, May 25, 2016. Blessings out the wazoo. This past year has been pretty eventful-families moving back home, 4 babies were born, new careers started and others in limbo, and 2 off to college. The only place I've blogged is in my mind. It is finally time to plant some words and paste some pictures of where we've been and where we're headed. The most joyous revelation has been the addition of our little peeps. A year ago Little Master Zayden entered the picture with his blue, blue eyes. Liam just p...

Tuesday, December 31, 2013. And the winner is. Practically all the online news services or newspapers are strangling viewers with the words, 2013 Year in Review. Not enough daily news that the old stuff has to be regurgitated? Life is way too short for a read-over, unless it's Too Kill a Mockingbird, or the 10th reading of "How to install and lock-in. Word/s of the Year. The words in competition so far, are: Simple, Patience, Follow-through, Forgiveness, Heal, and Hope. That the event has taken place.

hope & salvage: April 2014

Thursday, April 17, 2014. Oh, the Places You'll go. Dr Seuss of course was a masterful writer of thought, entertainment, and wisdom. What I consider one of his best books is "Oh, the Places You'll Go". It is an awesome book to give a graduate, or a kid, or an adult in a quandary. Last Summer, I bought this stool at one of my 4 favorite shopping places. Not ReStore. I love this stool. I use it all the time. It comes with me to my scout meetings, my kid's houses, and I drag it to my sister's house ...Most ...
