Creating Home: December 2012

http://creating-home.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Living Well, Making a Home, and Cooking with. Saturday, December 22, 2012. My mother, after years of diligent research, came up with what I think is not only the easiest Chocolate Mousse Pie recipe, it's the best. It is, however, incredibly rich, so you'll likely want to serve rather slender pieces. It's especially lovely if you garnish it with whipped cream, slivered almonds, and or fresh berries, and it works well as a mousse sans pie shell. Baked and cooled pastry (shortbread, chocolate or plain).

Creating Home: April 2012

http://creating-home.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Living Well, Making a Home, and Cooking with. Saturday, April 21, 2012. My mother is from South Carolina. I grew up in New Hampshire. That means that not only do I occasionally have an intrusive R, I also have been known to remove Rs that are purely ornamental. But while I am my mother's only Yankee child, and I loathe grits unaccompanied by butter, shrimp, green onions, garlic and cheese, I love Southern style cornbread. You will have noted the key phrase; Southern style cornbread. 3/4 yellow corn meal.

Creating Home: Best Ever Lemon Meringue Pie

http://creating-home.blogspot.com/2011/09/best-ever-lemon-meringue-pie.html

Living Well, Making a Home, and Cooking with. Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Best Ever Lemon Meringue Pie. This recipe comes from a lady from Sunburst, Montana who has gone from this earth. I found it in a cookbook called Recipes From the Aschim Family Ancestry. My husband and a number of his friends, who had the privilege to grow up in her community and experience her baking, all swear this is the best lemon pie they have ever eaten. Kate Aschim’s Lemon Pie. 1 ¼ cups sugar. 4 Tblsp corn starch. The Shik...

Living Well, Making a Home, and Cooking with. Saturday, October 22, 2011. VP Corn and Black Bean Salad. I recently got home from Viable Paradise. Where I go as part of the workshop staff every year. Part of my staff duties include cooking for a whole bunch of people, all week. The kitchens are tiny, the workshop is on an island (lovely and idyllic Martha's Vineyard. And ingredients may or may not be available from one day to the next; as a result, I especially. This is one of those recipes. 1 tablespoon ...

Living Well, Making a Home, and Cooking with. Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Roasted Red Potatoes with Lemon, Parsley, and Olives. This is simple, savory, and inexpensive, especially if you have a pot of parsley growing in your kitchen garden. You can do all the prep a day or a few hours before, and it's even better. 2 pounds of red potatoes. 3 tablespoons Olive oil. 1/4 cup chopped fresh Parsley. Several cloves of Garlic. 1/3 cup olives, pitted. Add the olives during the last five minutes of cooking. Livin...

Trish Stewart – Author. Monthly Archives: January 2011. Readers – if a tree falls. January 17, 2011. I wrote a poem last week. Been a while. Don’t read it.”. I laughed to myself. “If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it…” Then I realized how true it was. We go through the struggles of publishing because we want someone to hear the tree fall. Be a reader for an unpublished writer you know. Hash, slash, comma, divided. The afterthought on thought. Trish Stewart – Author. Monthly Archives: February 2011. Spring Fever and the DBC. February 21, 2011. It’s happening. This burst of warm weather last week and weekend has my gears shifting to spring. I’m ready for grilling out, fishing, camping, gardening. I can just feel the warm sun on my face, see the fish rise out of the water on my hook. Smell the campfire wood smoke, taste the garden-grown veggies. Here’s what it’s all about:. Wrong weather, wrong time of day? First: learning the different types of...

Over on Marguerite Says. We're talking about games we played as kids in the comments thread, here. It's awfully funny, and a miracle most of us lived to grow up. You should come play too. Stones In the Field. Random notes and maunderings about writing, life, and whatever struck my fancy lately. Monday, April 13, 2009. Creating Happy Spaces / Bedroom Design. I am excited to share some design boards with you today. Alice contacted me seeking help decorating her little girls bedroom. She didn't want super childish decor so I wanted to design something that was more tween/teen looking. This room will not be outgrown anytime soon. Honestly, I want all this stuff for my bedroom but Cody said no. hahaha. The second board was really inspired by the fun bedding. Cute little flowers formed from hearts, adorable! Alice was alrea...
