Creating Paper Dreams: Scrapbooking for One Little Bird
http://creatingpaperdreams.blogspot.com/2015/07/scrapbooking-for-one-little-bird.html
Scrapbooking for One Little Bird. A while back I tried my hand at applying for a design team. It was a real shot in the dark. The company was One Little Bird. And I used and loved their products and when the team call came out I knew I would regret it if I didn't have a go. As it turned out I wasn't offered a spot on the team, which in hindsight was definitely a blessing in disguise, owing to that thing called a degree that got in the way! The layout documents some creative writing I scribbled on my way ...
Creating Paper Dreams: May 2015
http://creatingpaperdreams.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
There is a funny superstition in Durham. One that is passed around the students, old to young as they enter this historic university. Don't climb the Cathedral Tower before you have finished your degree". For the simple reason that if you do, "you won't get a first". I don't know if my American friends have the same grading system at university? Here you can get a 3rd, a 2.2, a 2.1 (generally the most common mark and what most people aim for) and the top mark, a first. The staircase was also incredibly n...

Our own little sewing bee. I have said it time and again but blog friends are magic. This summer I got an email from a blog reader. It so happens that we went to uni together and she goes to my church. We certainly knew each other in passing however we had never really sat down and chatted. If only we had! It so turns out that Ellen is super crafty and a very talented sewer. She made her own graduation dress! How rad is that! You can see it here. Do you get together and sew, scrap with others? So here is...

Birdsong: November 2012
http://thebird-song.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Friday, 23 November 2012. Hahahah, I look at this and laugh, because it pretty much sums up mine and Gina's relationship. Crazy, funny and a little.well, weird. :) But I'm sure siblings are like this as well, so what's the difference between having a sister and a twin? So there are pro's and cons same as any other relationship. But a definite, definite pro is that you have a 'sidekick' a 'wingman' a 'best friend for life' from the minute your born. And you can only thank God for that. :) (And...Etc Etc&#...
Birdsong: Changing
http://thebird-song.blogspot.com/2014/01/changing.html
Tuesday, 28 January 2014. Since coming back to uni this term, a lot of things have changed. My perspectives have been massively challenged and my relationship with God pushed forward into a new stage. It's always a journey, but this has been a massive step. (And my blog is going to undergo changes to reflect this- so watch out! This is a prayer that I intend to pray daily from now on. And mean it. Today, I pray:. Help me take my hands off my life. Today, let me be a sacrifice. I pray, today. Welcome to t...

Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Welcome to this blog, Birdsong. This is just really some wonderings at life and at God. If I need to vent something, to splurge creatively, or journal, or think something through- these virtual pages help me to do it. So that's the reasoning behind it. I'd love you to read whatever happens and tell me what you think. :). When I said 'my foot is slipping' your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.". Psalm 94 v 18.
Birdsong: March 2012
http://thebird-song.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, 24 March 2012. It was a beautiful morning to start with. The first morning of the Easter holidays. It was the kind of morning where you pull away the curtains and it's blue and gold outside, the shillouettes of black birds darting between the colours and swooping onto the rooves above. I took my camera and walked to the sheep fields- the lambs were out and they made the perfect subject for my latest Photography topic. Posted by Milla Ling. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Psalm 94 v 18.
Birdsong: June 2012
http://thebird-song.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, 14 June 2012. Quite simply. Snails. When it's a rainy day we like to peep out of our shells, to explore the dewy grass and damp gravel, to look up at the big wide world and wonder. It's the scent of the grass, the delicate branches and the thousands of flowers, the cottages and hazy pink clouds, that make marvels. What a wonderful God we have, say the snails, and what a wonderful world. Posted by Milla Ling. Sunday, 3 June 2012. Here's a little taster of what my 'idea' day would consist of!
Gallo Organico: March 2015
http://gallorganico.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
A blog for my art, with a little life thrown in. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Take that Mr.Prufrock! As this page came together, I thought about the poem and the mermaids. And I changed the journaling to read: "I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each. And I know they will sing to you." It is, not surprisingly, a message to my teenage daughter. As my month long revisit of art journaling comes to an end, I hope that I continue to hear the mermaids singing to me. And I hope that they sing to you. It pro...

Birdsong: December 2013
http://thebird-song.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 31 December 2013. Posted by Milla Ling. I recently re-wrote the summary of myself over at The TeaHouse. And decided to post it on here, because as I was writing it got a little bit (a teensy bit) philosophical! And I thought you all should hear what I have to say about defining yourself. It's something I, and every other person who has ever been a teenager, has been trying to work out for a good while now. Who actually are we? A social-bee defines him/herself by the amount of friends they have.

Thursday, 22 August 2013. Was the silent plea. This baby was was one of first patients. Thankfully he was fine. There's too much to say about Jackson. If you really want to read it, you can see the blog I did on the teahouse. But essentially he was our translator, driver, guide, teacher and friend. Jackson probably is THE face of Tanzania for me. He helped us bridge the divide between ignorant white gap-year team and the 'real africa.' He was invaluable to all of us. Masuri, and his brother, would carry ...

Sunday, February 13, 2011. As they are all charcoal images, I've been slightly touching them up where they are really smudgy, and then applying white acrylic to accentuate light areas, and pasting handmade paper to create shadow and depth. But what I'm really enjoying is the cutting! Give me an x-acto knife, some paper and I'm happy! Lots of ideas bubbling away. Thursday, November 11, 2010. Creating Paper Dreams
The first two months. And so the PGCE started. And I subsequently vanished from this little space! I can't begin to describe what it has been like. I have never been busier in my life, I've never had so much to juggle or think about or plan. I'm also incredibly happy, have made wonderful new friends and now count a late night as any time past 10pm. So, to catch up on the last two months. Left to right, top to bottom:. Tea, so much tea is needed to get through this year. Maths Oh, the dreaded maths. Walks...
