Keeping Creative: April 2008
http://creativedebs.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Staying with the creative flow. All written material on this site (unless otherwise stated). Sunday, 27 April 2008. Working as an artist is tricky – the right brain is creative and emotional while the left brain is logical and practical. Keeping a balance is essential, because without a bit of business/organising savvy, the career of the artist is elusive. Measurable, meaningful, motivational. Agreed upon, attainable, achievable, acceptable, action-oriented. Time-based, timely, tangible, trackable. If yo...
Keeping Creative: June 2008

Staying with the creative flow. All written material on this site (unless otherwise stated). Sunday, 29 June 2008. Creative Avoidance is a normal part of the creative person’s life. It presents itself in many ways, and until we get to know ourselves well in the creative process, we may not recognise it very well as it can be quite subtle! Mostly though, we can identify our avoidance tactics by realising that we haven’t got on with our project as we planned and we can’t see a good reason why. Whatever hap...

Staying with the creative flow. All written material on this site (unless otherwise stated). Saturday, 26 July 2008. Last time we looked at the definition and personal perception of success. This time I’m going to talk about resources and how important it is to our journey. The successful creative person is reliant on a pool of resources. These will be wide and varied, including inner resources of talent, determination and discipline, and external resources of tutors, family and internet. They will help ...

Staying with the creative flow. All written material on this site (unless otherwise stated). Sunday, 25 May 2008. It will come as no surprise to most of you that a good walk in the countryside is relaxing. How about we took that one step further and actually treated a five minute meditation outside in a park or even your back garden as a way of reconnecting with our creative roots? Above painting: Suffolk Summer Dusk. Posted by Debs Burrow. Sunday, May 25, 2008. Sunday, 18 May 2008. But I hear your resis...
Keeping Creative: Send it to your Big Toe
http://creativedebs.blogspot.com/2008/10/send-it-to-your-big-toe.html
Staying with the creative flow. All written material on this site (unless otherwise stated). Sunday, 19 October 2008. Send it to your Big Toe. It sits on my shoulder, whispering sceptical things into my ear that make me stop and question my path as an artist. Its comments are condescending, spiteful, and convince me that I'm wasting my time. "Who's going to like, let alone buy that? It chants each time I get close to getting anywhere with anything creative.". By sending it to my Big Toe! Subscribe to: Po...

Art is Art. Everything else is everything else. Tuesday, 28 February 2012. Weird tales for February. My 'Belbury Poly' album arrived this morning in the post. I felt like a twelve year old boy again, excitedly waiting for the glimpse of Frank the postman coming round the corner, wondering if he'd have my record with him. The artwork, packaging and design are sublime and reason enough to own the vinyl version. Belbury Poly - The Belbury Tales. 28 February 2012 at 17:37. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
The Chemical Factory: Turn from the light...
http://chemicalfactory.blogspot.com/2012/02/turn-from-light.html
Art is Art. Everything else is everything else. Monday, 27 February 2012. Turn from the light. A late finish from work. a quiet and strangely still night. It can mean only one thing. the perfect horror of all time. Schalcken the Painter (1979). I cannot recommend this wonderful adaptation of Sheridan LeFanu's ghost story. It is quite simply magnificent in every way. The screen literally creaks with the pressure building atmosphere of sheer dread. Watch it on your own, in the dark, very late at night.

Creative Debris
March 28th, 2012. East End – Click on the image to view image sequence. Over the last year and a half I have been taking photographs around the East End of London. During this time I have been attempting to make interesting photographs of the everyday and unremarkable in the tradition of what is often referred to as deadpan photography. Initially inspired by William Eggleston’s. Ability of finding drama in the everyday, my intentions can best be summed up by Andreas Mass. January 24th, 2012. Horizontal C...
Creative Debris | The smoking remains from my bursts of creativity
June 15, 2013} Stupid Mandrakes. Dad said that there’s an old Muggle saying: Curiosity killed the cat. I always thought that was a stupid saying, and wondered what my esteemed headmistress Professor McGonagall would think about it. Still, I followed his advice up until my last day working for Professor Longbottom. He promised to transfer me to Hagrid’s assistant the next day, but Peeves decided he liked that at all. I only have one question: What is the word “Ni” and why is it so terrible? How close anal...
