Journey to Recovery: Step One
http://whataride.blogspot.com/2007/11/step-one.html
Another soul trying to stay sober. Sunday, November 25, 2007. I've been a member of the AA program since I got sober, but have never done the steps. I really want to do them, and now that my sponsor has decided to start a women's step meeting in her home, I jumped at the chance. We are reading 12 Steps and 12 Traditions, a book which I've owned for a while but never read. So it's good to focus tonight on the ways my life had become unmanageable due to alcohol and how I was powerless over it:. Drinking mo...

Journey to Recovery: Comment Moderations
http://whataride.blogspot.com/2007/11/comment-moderations.html
Another soul trying to stay sober. Friday, November 30, 2007. I guess I need to moderate the comments to avoid being Mickied again. Sigh. Posted by Redhead Gal at 6:51 PM. You too, huh? O well. Thank God for moderation. Ahh, I see he found you too! Sounds like he couldn't grasp sobriety. It scared me when I saw him on my site, that I deleted that posting! I thought satan entered my site. Great that you are starting the steps! I am still working mine, now on my health. I am powerless over my Diabetes!

Journey to Recovery: October 2004
http://whataride.blogspot.com/2004_10_01_archive.html
Another soul trying to stay sober. Thursday, October 28, 2004. You can drink on Fridays! How about just drinking on Fridays and Saturdays until New Year's and *then* you can quit for good. It'll be so much easier after the holidays anyway. I told the voice maybe and that quieted it long enough for me to get through a school event with my kids, cook dinner, and get to my computer. Now I don't crave and I *don't* want to drink tomorrow night either. Posted by Redhead Gal at 9:50 PM. Still sober on Day 4.

Journey to Recovery: February 2005
http://whataride.blogspot.com/2005_02_01_archive.html
Another soul trying to stay sober. Monday, February 21, 2005. Well, I forgot completely how great it felt to stay sober and drank Friday and Saturday night. It started with my husband inviting me more or less to drink. "Are you drinking tonight? I did watch "All About My Mother" directed by Pedro Almovar, with my husband last night. It was a good flick although as often happens with European films we were left wondering what it was all about in the end. Posted by Redhead Gal at 9:18 PM. I had a busy day ...

Journey to Recovery: cravings and such
http://whataride.blogspot.com/2007/09/cravings-and-such.html
Another soul trying to stay sober. Sunday, September 23, 2007. Thirteen month later and I still get cravings to drink. Not as strong and as often but there are times when I am definitely entertaining the notion. It doesn't help that my husband thinks I could have a drink now and then. He's sure I won't go back to the way I used to be. The man still doesn't get this disease. Today I am grateful for:. Not being hungover on Sunday mornings anymore. Not blacking out on Saturday nights. Follow the instruction...

All My Affairs Blog. Be a Part Of. Link from Your Page. October 31, 2007. Someone Made a Purchase Today! It may not sound like much, but someone spent about $19 today at one of our merchant partners. It only generated a little over $2 for recovery. But multiply that by 10,000 and we're really making a difference here. I'm just excited because it is the first purchase not by me. There are two mistakes one can make along the road to truth.not going all the way, and not starting. -Siddharta. Letters to Pat H.

Journey to Recovery: August 2005
http://whataride.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html
Another soul trying to stay sober. Saturday, August 13, 2005. After a grueling week at work, I'm off to Cape Cod for a vacation. We've rented a small house on a lake with a dock and I'm so ready to swim, relax, eat clams, go boating, walk on the beach, read novels. PS Grace, the ginger beer is an awesome substitute for wine. I only allow myself to drink it when I would otherwise have been having a glass of wine. Yummy stuff! Posted by Redhead Gal at 10:02 AM. Tuesday, August 09, 2005. On the way home, I ...

Journey to Recovery: Gratitude
http://whataride.blogspot.com/2007/12/gratitude.html
Another soul trying to stay sober. Tuesday, December 11, 2007. Today I am grateful for:. Many mornings- months and months- of no hangovers. That my cold is just about cleared up. That AA is teaching me to stop trying to control things. That my performance review was not as traumatic as I thought it would be at work today.I've been given goals to work with and that's good. Now, if I only get some management assistance. That Christmas will be quiet this year, just my husband's parents and us.
