ironspinner: October 2008
http://ironspinner.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 27, 2008. This past Saturday I had some time to kill while visiting a friend of mine who lives in Charlestown, right on Bunker Hill, so I got to walk around for a bit and took some pictures. It was an absolutely beautiful New England fall day and the area is so pretty. I've also cast on my very first sweater! Rhinebeck, and all of the beautiful handknit items I witnessed while there, inspired me to venture something bigger. I've never. I know I'll finish this sucker because I'm already.

Monday, May 26, 2008. A day of dyeing. What a friggen' amazing weekend it has been! I was stuck inside most of Saturday and Sunday working at The Stitch House. In Dorchester, but today it was time to enjoy a day off and some very nice sunshine! So I only got one pound of superwash merino dyed up. Wednesday, May 21, 2008. Yarn Harlot cracks me up. Oh man, I found this on YouTube. And had to post it here. It is too funny. I could have used one of her responses! Monday, May 19, 2008. About to get REAL busy.

ironspinner: August 2008

Wednesday, August 6, 2008. In non-knitting/spinning/dyeing news, my Redwood tree is doing spectacular! I'm just a little concerned about what to do with it over the winter, I gotta do some reading up. I bought this little guy back in the spring at the Massachusetts Horticultural Society's Flower Show. If you've never been, it's definitely worth checking out. I try to get there every year, there's always a lot of great stuff to see and buy! I think this is definitely destined to become a pair of mittens!

ironspinner: July 2008

Thursday, July 10, 2008. An adventure in sewing. As if my list of time consuming hobbies wasn't long enough, I signed up for a sewing class at The Stitch House. To make an Amy Butler. Sophia Bag. The instructor told me this was a hard one, and she was right! Well, it wasn't so much hard as it was time consuming.lots of pieces to cut out.and that piping made things tricky. But I did it and the bag came out awesome! My sister was the lucky recipient and now my mom and friend want one. What have I done?

The K is Silent: Yarns to Dye For!
http://the-k-issilent.blogspot.com/2015/06/yarns-to-dye-for.html
The K is Silent. Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Yarns to Dye For! I've been scouring my stash for any undyed yarns I might have. I've found quite a few, but these nine are the ones I think I'll bring with me to dye. A few years ago, I signed up for a yarn CSA out of Martha's Vineyard, which has since relocated to Virginia as Juniper Moon Farm. At the end of the season, I got two skeins of Romney and four skeins of Corriedale. In New Hampshire. I don't know much about this yarn, only that I've been told th...

The K is Silent: February 2015

The K is Silent. Sunday, February 22, 2015. Too Many Projects to Decide. In the novel Bingo. Rita Mae Brown has one of her characters say, "The happiest day of my life was when Frances moved in, and the second happiest day of my life was when Frances moved out." Knitting is something like that. My supreme joy is casting on, a new project, ripe with possibilities! My second joy is casting off, the ripeness fulfilled, reaping what has been sown. And in between is all that knitting. For Brandon's mom, a hon...

The K is Silent: July 2015
http://the-k-issilent.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
The K is Silent. Tuesday, July 21, 2015. When I was a small child, my parents had a recording of Barbra Streisand singing to Chopin's Minute Waltz. I can barely remember the words, but thanks to the magic of Google, I found them. I have got a minute, just a little minute. I have only got a minute, just a minute. I have only got a minute that is all the time. I have to sing this tiny minute waltz. It isn't easy but I'll try it then. I've gotta say goodbye but first I'll take a minute. With a good selectio...

The K is Silent: November 2014
http://the-k-issilent.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
The K is Silent. Sunday, November 30, 2014. I landed in New Orleans yesterday. When I left Boston, it was snowing. When I arrived in New Orleans, it was almost 70 degrees. In fact today, it is. In the 70s, and I'm in shorts and a t-shirt. I've ditched the winter weeds and I'm enjoying the sun and a great breeze. I made it to the Quarter Stitch. This morning. No visit to New Orleans is complete without a stop by one of the friendliest yarn shops I've ever been in. I fell in love, again, with the Malabrigo.
