Tuesday, July 7, 2015. The morning of Lucy's 7th Birthday. From the dead of sleep to helping my girl struggle out of a tight spot in 12 seconds. It took me quite a bit to recognize that she was really stuck. I think I would have panicked had I been in her predicament. Tuesday, July 28, 2015. We were invited to Blue Doors for a birthday celebration. Mike's Uncle was turning 92. I had never heard of this place before but it is on my list of places I must go back to. The kids went tubing and swimming with Uncle Matt. Mike was the king of the grill and we had a delicious dinner. We had beer and homemade ice cream and watermelon. Emma captured these pictures. Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Separating water into H2 and O2. Here we connected two pieces of copper wire to a 9-volt battery. We filled two test tubes and a beaker with distilled water. We added baking soda to the water because we needed the ions to transfer the H and the OH-. Hydrogen gas formed readily but the oxygen gas was inhibited by the copper oxidizing at the anode. Tuesday, June 2, 2015. How we made our Periodic Table-Table. Many people have asked, so here goes:. I ordered a black periodic table poster from Pottery Barn. Way back last October when they had their mad scientist collection. It is a black canvas poster on a black table. I cut the wood off the top and the bottom, so it was just canvas. Then I ordered glass from Tulsa Glass. Cut to fit my table. I simply placed the canvas on the table and put the glass over it. Simple, yet pretty. Posted by Emily Lim.

Life with a BQ. Thursday, May 28, 2015. The blue hole . Ellie was reading in her new mexico highlights about the blue hole . Just so happens that we were going to drive right by it on the way to albuquerque . So in true griswald fashion we stopped to "look at it". Next thing i know i am fishing swim suits out of suitcases. The blue hole is a bell shaped sink hole that is 80 feet across on the surface. Today starts day 1 of the first leg of our big summer trip . Headed to new mexico! Tuesday, May 26, 2015.

Life with a BQ. Monday, July 13, 2015. After watching old faithful erupt twice we took a hike down to mystic falls . There have been lots of bears hanging around yellowstone lately . There are watch out for bear signs all over . We didn't see any bears but we did see a beautiful waterfall . We stopped on our hike back up to stick our feet in the cool water . There is nothing like the mountains in colorado . Don't even get me started on how good the air smells . There is nothing better than the heavy scent of pine trees. We hiked around bear lake . Life with a BQ. Monday, July 20, 2015. We made it to the pacific coast before the sunset last night . We found all kinds of sea life in the tide pools . We caught the sunset to . We hiked the tall tree trail today . This is the part of the old growth forest that is still left . It took 40 years for the redwoods to become a national forest . By the time the legislation was passed deeming it a national park 90% of the redwoods had already been cut down . To say they are big is an understatement .
