The Casual Eater : January 2011
http://www.thecasualeater.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
I'm picky. Especially when it comes to food. Sunday, January 30, 2011. So, we're trying to find someplace good. Kathy suggested we try Mexicali Grill. Since she had been there before and considered it to be "okay." The three of us went for dinner on a weeknight, which meant prompt service as they were pretty empty. I ordered the chicken chimichanga, which turned out to be about average. Nothing was strikingly memorable about it, and I forgot to ask for extra-rice-no-beans (see! Kathy went with a couple o...

House of Hao's. Mostly the best eats I've #blessed my face with. One Night in Nashville – Hattie B’s Hot Chicken. Earlier this year, I stopped by Nashville for a hot second to visit a hotel trade show (the Asian American Hotel Owners Association – long story). The trip also had a great chicken-related benefit – the opportunity to eat at Hattie B’s Hot Chicken. Definitely some of the top chicken in the land, right up there with Willie Mae’s. A Day of Eating in Sunset Park. East Harbor Seafood Palace.

From Ballparks to BBQ. Best BBQ in Town. Recipes for the Tailgate. New York City Restaurants. West Palm Beach Restaurants. Cafe Du Monde Review - New Orleans. My Review of Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. What I’m about to write is probably sacrilege and I’ll likely be banned from Jackson Square in New Orleans. I wasn’t impressed with Cafe Du Monde. And compared to Cafe Beignet. Cafe Du Monde REALLY didn’t do anything for me. I'll see myself out. Instead, it was just an experience where it felt like the sta...

And I’m Off…. January 30, 2012. I’ll admit it. I’ve been hit with the travel bug! I spend my days inside my fake wood cubicle looking up airfares to far away lands and planning vacations I probably can’t afford. Let’s face it, all-day access to. Doesn’t help either. In 2011, I was able to cross off a lot of wonderful places on my bucket list. which reminds me, I really should do a post on New Orleans….but we’ll save that story for another time…. Me and my friends at the Creole Creamery. They have an amaz...

By jetandeat, on September 24th, 2010. Our last food stop in New Orleans was Parkway Bakery and Tavern. For a po’boy. We would have been ashamed to finish our trip without trying one! I have to admit, after hearing the staff at Serious Eats. Rave about the po’boys from Domilise. Parkway Bakery and Tavern. I thi...

the journal of Andrew Marin: 12/01/2008 - 01/01/2009

The journal of Andrew Marin. I still hate the word "blog," but I needed an affordable (aka free) place to write my journal. Sunday, December 07, 2008. An excerpt from a letter from Shanaynay:. So i just updated myself on your giornale. Actually I was a bit disappointed. The entries seem like rote lists of where you went and what you ate. Where's the passion? Where are the internal struggles of dear Andrew Marin? But I’ll work on all that. I'll work on all this. I promise. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The journal of Andrew Marin. I still hate the word "blog," but I needed an affordable (aka free) place to write my journal. Monday, June 09, 2008. Sunday my family, sans Adrian who’s not back from New Orleans yet, went to church and then had lunch at Bistro du Coin with one of my father’s old classmates who was in town for a conference. Then it was an unsuccessful quest for a Wii Fit for him to take back to the Philippines. Hungry again from all that driving(? Thursday, June 05, 2008. Rest of Chicago week.
