Random thoughts and travels. Thursday, December 30, 2010. Amsterdam – Day Three. Posted by bartelsjoshuac at 12/30/2010 05:48:00 AM. 160; OK, so that is not the shocking part, I knew that. What is shocking is all the families and kids there too. The bars and cafes where no different, you’d see plenty of 14-18 year old kids in there as well. Monday, December 27, 2010. Quad City Images: March 2006
http://quadcityimages.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 31, 2006. Today's QCT has an article about the CityView Apartments. Judging by the rainy pictures, I'd say they must have checked them out yesterday. Probably just a coincidence. I'm sure Matt McDonnell is happy about all the publicity, at least. Posted by QuadCityImages @ 8:44 PM. It sure looks good on a map to have city streets laid out perfectly east and west, but danged if it isn't a pain in the eyeballs driving home at sunrise. Posted by QuadCityImages @ 7:32 AM. Were citizens angry in...

Tuesday, February 28, 2006. Bettendorf's riverfront: Cranes, Casinos, and Semi Trailers. Maybe because with their floodwall you can't see the river anyway. Posted by QuadCityImages @ 4:31 PM. Monday, February 27, 2006. Those are nice garages, but where are the houses? This is why New Urbanism is so important to me. Neighborhoods that look more like the places we grew up, with alleys, clotheslines, variety in house design, and fronts of houses that look. Posted by QuadCityImages @ 4:28 PM. As always, clic...

Saturday, April 29, 2006. Spirit Inc. Pizza Sale Pictures. Empty boxes ready for pizzas at the start, and towards the end, a truck loaded with boxes full of pizzas. About 1500 pizzas an hour being made. Nearly 8,000 pizzas were made, bagged, and boxed in less than 6 hours. A lot of good kids and their families and friends helping a good cause. Posted by QuadCityImages @ 10:27 PM. Swing Lose (the baseball game). Nothing political. Seriously. Posted by QuadCityImages @ 2:23 AM. Thursday, April 27, 2006.

Quad City Images: January 2006
http://quadcityimages.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 31, 2006. Guest Post from the Fly. Shawn, Dee, process, and the council. DDP has turned away from city politics, so I didn't want to post this there. Besides, this is mostly just a few scattered thoughts, as my past posts have often been. Interesting to see Hamerlinck grab the ball and run with it within the first 30 days of taking office. Kind of gives pause to the "accepted wisdom" that new alderfolk take a year or two to get their feet under them. But hey, good luck. Unsurprisingly, A...

Wednesday, December 28, 2005. QCI's Top 5 New Year's Wishes. Instead of sleeping, which I should be doing, I'm writing down my 5 biggest wishes for Davenport in 2006. I'd post this closer to New Years, but my flight for sunny Arizona leaves in a mere 4 hours. I'm not sure how many posts I'll be able to make in the coming days. I hope that in 2006 Davenport can:. Reduce crime. Somehow, some way, make Davenport safer. Enough said. Help prairie Heights succeed. I'm a big fan of new urbanism, mostly. Don't p...

Monday, October 31, 2005. 3 Cops, 2 Real Issues. This article is somewhat in reply to Fly's un-comment-able. Post regarding today's Quad City Times article. The article lists 3 cops and what their "problem" was with the police. In their defense, I don't know as much about VanFossen and Swanson's incidents, as they were before I was born. Here's what they did according to the QCTimes:. The issue with Gibbs was extremely bad blood/vendetta between him and also former cop/then Mayor Yerington. The alder...
