The area of Elafonisi is surrounded by a not so great fence because it’s considered a some kind of natural reservation and you can tell by the many various kinds of plants, flowers and trees. Crete has a good transportation network but metropolitan buses are a little slow, you can wait even one hour for a bus.The routes end at roughly 12 Midnight. Crete has a very good infrastructure with a big highway connecting the east to the west. As for prices, a one-way ticket for Chania to Rethymno is 6-7 Euros, big air-conditioned coach. You can check this bus schedule. Chania to Rethymno 60Km.
