Cricket Burble: Do these games have any impact on the end result of the World Cup?
http://cricketburble.blogspot.com/2015/02/do-these-games-have-any-impact-on-end.html
Burble" - verb. To talk at great length, with scant regard for logic or facts and with no attempt to reach a conclusion. Do these games have any impact on the end result of the World Cup? Four - or at a push five - sides *could* win it but for so many I can't help but feel they're not playing their best side for so many reasons. Don't have Ryan Harris playing, or Nathan Lyon even in the squad. Much like South Africa with McLaren, New Zealand. Didn't take the chance to draft in Saeed Ajmal into their side...

Cricket Burble: Bopara so so unlucky
http://cricketburble.blogspot.com/2014/08/bopara-so-so-unlucky.html
Burble" - verb. To talk at great length, with scant regard for logic or facts and with no attempt to reach a conclusion. Bopara so so unlucky. Having talked about an Aussie who is clearly very unlucky not to get picked for his country, now we come to Ravi Bopara of England. I couldn't quite get my head around it when I heard that he'd been left out of England's ODI squad. As I checked for why he was left out (was he carrying an injury? But there was very little in the way of an outcry. Why not? Wrong" De...
Cricket Burble: Always learn when playing with your betters

Burble" - verb. To talk at great length, with scant regard for logic or facts and with no attempt to reach a conclusion. Always learn when playing with your betters. You could tell the standard was high when our two openers ( Kent CCC fringes and Northants Premier League) were bowling. at the fifth stump to cries of " good line". Players at our usual level know that you've got to hit one of the first three stumps! Really pretty grounds too - hop fields on three sides. Posted by Mark Davis. Cricket Burble...

Padding Up: June 2009
http://paddingup.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 16 June 2009. More Than Just a Riddle. Preached in Christ Church, Moss Side - 10th May 2009. 1 John 4 v7-end and John 15 v1-8. Jesus said, ‘I am the true vine’. Jesus did not say, ‘I am as round as a dishpan, as deep as a tub, and yet the oceans could never fill me. What am I? 8217; Nor did he say, ‘I hold water, yet am full of holes. What am I? Sort it out, and get back to the Tardis before the universe is destroyed! But are these statements really as cryptic and confusing as they sound? Subscr...
Padding Up: A Lenten Alleluia
http://paddingup.blogspot.com/2010/03/lenten-alleluia.html
Monday, 1 March 2010. Preached in Jesus College Chapel, Cambridge - 21st February 2010. Deuteronomy 26 v1-11, Romans 10 v8b-13 and Luke 4 v1-13. Jesus goes on to live this out, throughout his ministry and teaching he provides nourishment with the Word, proclaiming himself the bread of life. Yes, Jesus shuns the material of the world, but not for the sake of it. ‘Those who come to me shall never hunger.’. Finally, from the pinnacle of the temple, Jesus is asked to throw himself down, allowing the angels t...
Padding Up: January 2009

Wednesday, 7 January 2009. How to Shoot Yourself in Both Feet. Get rid of these two. What a very English coup. They clearly did not get on, and could not work together. Pietersen disliked Moores' boot-camp style, Moores disliked Pietersen's style of captaincy. Pietersen wanted Vaughan back in the team, Moores did not. Some teams lose a coach, some a captain. But to lose both, this close to an important series is plain barmy. And the maddest thing? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.
Padding Up: On Living and Dying

It is in embracing death that we come to a greater understanding of what it is to be alive. 8221; becomes one of the basic proclamations of the church. It speaks to things that are dead and calls forth life. The church – as the body of Christ – shouts for life from out of the tomb, and Jesus is there to unbind our grave...Welcome to my blo...

Whether you fear it – the new, the different, the unexpected, or embrace it – dashing off into the next adventure, change affects us, the way we are seen, and the way we see the world. Padding Up: Heading East
http://paddingup.blogspot.com/2009/03/heading-east.html
Sunday, 8 March 2009. I am about to break new ground. Having previously not been further east than Budapest, tomorrow I fly to Delhi, which is so far east that it's almost west. Nearly. My second Google Map in two posts(! When I'm able to get on the internet, I'll try and post a few pictures and whatnot to let you know what I'm up to and that I'm still alive. It's going to be quite an adventure, partly as I have so little planned at this stage. But it is going to be fun. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Padding Up: December 2008
http://paddingup.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Monday, 29 December 2008. Michael Vaughan. And why not? Ian Bell's form in Test cricket since his 199 against South Africa at Lord's last summer has seen him score just 182 runs at an average of 20. That is simply not good enough for an England No.3. Vaughan has the ability, the proven record, and is statistically England's most successful ever captain. Who wouldn't want him on the pitch?
