April 20, 2010 at 7:57 pm Posted in Cooking. One of the many perks of working the food world, is all the free food you inevitably end up bringing home. The other day I scored a loaf of 2-day old brioche. 2 day old brioche is really only good for one thing: french toast. This french toast was made with Marshall’s chicken’s eggs. A bit of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, a splash of vanilla, and enough milk to make it all come together. Add to that a drizzle of maple syrup, and life is pretty good.

While I was in baking school we used a recipe for carrot cake that quickly became my favorite. It has buttermilk in it and is quite moist. The original recipe calls for walnuts but we chose to exclude them. I was pretty nervous about making a cake that was big enough so I went with 14-10-6″ tiers. (As it turns out, I was VERY generous with my estimate.). The bride, the groom, and the cake.

Annarbor.com covers Mark’s Carts. 8220;Mark’s Carts” is the name that Downtown Home&Garden owner, Mark Hodesh, came up with for the urban garden food court that is currently being constructed behind DH&G. He plans on having it finished by this April, which would time nicely with the opening of San Street’ food cart. Tags: downtown home and garden. We got a food cart! It’s typically used to serve hot dogs out of, but we’re going to use it to serve Asian street food, starting off with steamed pork buns. If it looks familiar, it’s the same type of cart that EAT uses (seen at the Farmer’s Market, and Pot and Box). There is an extremely nice guy in Saline that makes these carts from scratch. Who knew!
