He was covered in a thin sheen of sweat, and his breaths were deep and labored. She closed her eyes for a moment and gently stroked his bald head, enjoying the electric warmth that his body radiated as he lay there next to her. He did that to her. She stopped, taking a moment to consider what that meant. She wanted to live. She wanted to see another night.
