Family: Sports Relief

To watch a short video. We decided almost at the last minute, to do the mile-long sponsored fun-run for Sports Relief. So were far too late to join Prince William et al on the Embankment, and ended up at some obscure running track in North London, with a few hundred other badly organised people. William and I collapsed pathetically on the grass verge afterwards. You got sent one red sock with “Doing it” on it, before the race, and the 2nd, saying “Done it! Rdquo; was given to you on finishing.

In the. (2005). William has been learning cornet at the Newham Academy of Music for two years now, and has played in several concerts this year with the Concert Band. William's ninth birthday fireworks party. As William’s birthday is usually at the same time as the August bank Holiday, a lot of his friends can’t come to his party, so for the last few years, we’ve delayed it a few months. This year, we had it on November 5, and made it a Fireworks party. How slowly does William eat? Well, yes (2004).

Christmas Lunch, Dinner, Supper. Anyone who has eaten with William knows that, usually due to excessive amounts of yacking, he can take a little while to finish his food. But at our Christmas dinner in 2003, he really excelled - so I recorded the event for posterity. About 45 minutes after Jenny and I had both finished, so, maybe 90 minutes into the meal, William was still plugging away. So, we're about 90 minutes in, since we started eating. 93 minutes (I nodded off for a minute). 2 hours and 2 minutes.

After the party we had a bunch of them sitting around the lounge. William insisted that we proved that sound moves faster in helium than it does in air. Obviously, you have to be careful with this type of experiment - William nearly died laughing! What about William's latest school photo. Want to see a star performance? Peter: Transit of Venus

A fantastic, bright, sunny, cloudless day, and an early start for me and William – 6:56am this was taken. Luckily, that meant that the action had started before William had to go off to school. The big bright circle is a projection of the sun through the binoculars. The small, grey circle on the face of it is the planet Venus passing in front of the Sun. And it’s called the Transit of Venus. Anyway, I watched this all morning, and enjoyed every minute. Not quite as awe inspiring as the eclipse in 1999.
