Dorothy's Room

Sunday, 4 January 2015. First post of 2015. I set out trying to cut some shapes as I had a vague idea of making myself a little bag out of it. It looks in a sorry state below doesn't it! Below is the finished product - not the straightest cut or the most elegant bag but I must admit - I love it! This is the other side of the bag with the second pocket - both of these will prove to be pretty handy for storing little girly things. Nearly ready to go.. Here is the quilt in it's raw state - I loved working ...

Dorothy's Room: The Postman called

http://www.crochetknittingsewing.blogspot.com/2013/09/the-postman-called.html

Wednesday, 4 September 2013. It is so lovely to see you again. This is just a quick post tonight unfortunately as I have so much work to do I won't have much time to do anything else and I am determined to get into bed before 1am! I am taking notice of your comments so a big thank you for those, it means a lot to me. I have wanted a Sophie Tilley. It comes with very clear instructions - all in colour which is wonderful. It even came with a template to practise painting the sweet little face she has. ...

Dorothy's Room: A rainy weekend

http://www.crochetknittingsewing.blogspot.com/2013/10/a-rainy-weekend.html

Sunday, 13 October 2013. Please make yourself at home, it is so nice to see you again. Yesterday I decided to go for a trip home to Liverpool where I was born. I always drive to the other side of the River Mersey and catch the ferry across the river. I love the feeling of being on the ferry as my lovely Dad worked on these for many years painting and restoring them each year so that they were always ready for their duties. Made me feel very Christmassy. I also spotted this lovely cushion - do you like it?

http://www.crochetknittingsewing.blogspot.com/2014/08/hello-again.html

Wednesday, 6 August 2014. Hello all my lovely people, how are you all doing? It has been a while since I caught up with you all - we have just returned from a lovely holiday with our little Peeps. I must say that holidaying with our three was fabulous - tiring but so enjoyable. The energy children have is fabulous and although I had plans of writing up some posts I am sorry to say that I failed miserably as each minute was spent with them all - lovely! They were also very intrigued with the wedding cake ...

5 daughters: Christmas Tree Lanterns

http://momof5daughters.blogspot.com/2013/12/christmas-tree-lanterns.html

Wednesday, December 18. I know . . . time is running short. Here is a quick and easy craft to keep youngsters busy while you get your baking and wrapping done. Here is a link to the step-by-step You Tube video I made on how to fold the light lantern:. Origami Light Lantern video. All they need is a piece of copy paper. Really that is all. Oh, maybe some scissors to cut the paper into a square. Or just use white paper on white lights to diffuse the light and make a beautiful larger soft light. These origa...

Monday, April 28. Here are a couple of ideas that can be used for all sorts of things like wedding showers, baby showers, spring and summer parties, birthday parties, home decor, and MOTHER'S DAY! This cute umbrella is easily made out of paper, chenille (pipe cleaner), and ribbon (or yarn). You can make them any size. Large ones, made out of 12" x 12" scrapbook paper, make great decorations. 5 daughters: Easter Egg Time!!!

http://momof5daughters.blogspot.com/2014/04/easter-egg-time.html

Friday, April 11. Happy Happy April Everyone! Isn't springtime the best; not too hot, not too cold, just right . . . Easter is later this year. This is good, it's given me time to make something I've wanted to do for a long time. My mom has this wire tree on a rock that she purchased years and years ago. When I was a kid, I got to hang cute little miniture Christmas ornaments on it. Anyway, I have wanted a tree like that for a long time and have never seen one in any stores, so I made one and it was easy!

Monday, April 14. Paper Stained Glass Easter Egg! This was a little project I did with my grandkids. They had so much fun! They were all coloring and it didn't matter how they colored or if they went outside of the lines. Just a great big scribbling fest! I picked up some poster paper (15 cents a foot) at a craft store, drew the egg on it with a pencil and let the grandkids go at it! How to make a Stained Glass paper Easter Egg. Have so much fun with this quick and easy project and . . .

http://momof5daughters.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, June 7. It always seems so hard for me to figure out presents for men: fathers, father-in-laws, grandpas, husbands, son-in-laws, etc. Because, let's face it, I'm not a man and still don't really understand how they think and what they would really like. Sooooo, the best option is a card! I can't go wrong with a homemade card. In fact, my dad loved my homemade cards (or at least he acted like he loved them! And the men in your life will love a homemade Father's Day card too! Links to this post.

5 daughters: Sheep Decoration/ Ornament

http://momof5daughters.blogspot.com/2013/12/sheep-decoration-ornament.html

Tuesday, December 10. This is my favorite time of year. It's also so busy, cold, and stressful. So here is a fun and quick (yet adorable) Christmas decoration or Christmas tree ornament to make. You will need some sheepy like material (an 8" by 8" piece), strong thread and needle, brown felt, glue ( I use a glue gun ), and some kind of stuffing (either batting or cotton balls), and either 2 beads or felt for the eyes. How to make a sheep decoration video. December 12, 2013 at 12:16 PM. My Merry Messy Life.

Saturday, March 14. The time for new things. . . I'm beginning to wonder if I might have Attention Deficit Disorder. I go from one project to the next and always seem to be trying something new. And with Springtime here there are SOOOO many projects I want to start - it's ridiculous! I will tell you one thing, Pinterest is certainly not helping this disorder! This week I've been playing with Play Doh and making Easter related things . . . Just click on the pics for the YouTube "how to" videos :).
