Kabinettskriege: June 2014
http://kabinettskriege.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
What is the Kabinettskriege Era? Friday, June 13, 2014. Forts near Presque Isle in the Kabinettskriege Era (part 1). The modern site of the historic fortifications of Erie, PA. Today, we are going to look at the history of a place a little closer to home than normal. While much of the fighting of the Kabinettskriege. There is another, equally important part of Erie history which has been overlooked by most of the town's inhabitants. Or what we might refer to in English as the "Upper Country," or colonial...

Ilkley Old School: March 2015
http://ilkleyoldschool.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 25 March 2015. Just finished revamping the first unit of my ECW collection. Infantry are now on 40mm square basis. I have also changed my basing style to a more classic look reminiscent of Peter Gilder using filler, sand and Humbrol Grass Green (number 80). I attended a training course in York last week. On the Friday, as the course had finished, I decided to drive home via Tockwith and stopped at Marston Moor. Map on the monument shows the armies deployed. Sunday, 15 March 2015. I am going to...

Ilkley Old School: May 2015
http://ilkleyoldschool.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Friday, 22 May 2015. Last weekend we put on a demo game at the Triples show in Sheffield. This may be the last time we put on a game at this show. We used some of Ian's extensive collection of Napoleonic 28mm figures. Ken supplied the portable table which looked very good. The buildings were from Eauns collection of scratch built Mike Sewell Normandy buildings. Although only 20mm they worked well with the 28mm figures. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Ilkley Old School: November 2014
http://ilkleyoldschool.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Friday, 14 November 2014. I went to France with the wife and kids and in between visiting Paris and Euro Disney I managed to take in a couple of military sites. Firstly I visited the battlefield of Fontenoy. A battle I have fought on a number of occasions but never visited. There is a factory which limits what can be seen but there is a small board by the local cemetery. There are also a couple of plaques on the cemetery wall. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Ilkley Old School: July 2015
http://ilkleyoldschool.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, 26 July 2015. This year has been pretty slow on the painting front. What limited time I have seems to be spent on re basing. This morning I decided to re start painting my Saxon RSM Hussars. I have 12 of them that I started at least 18 months ago but I am finding really hard to motivate myself to complete. So I got 6 of them out of their box and got the paints out. These pictures show how far I got with them. Let's see if I can get them finished by end of next weekend. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Wednesday, 23 July 2014. Day out at the Royal Armouries. I have a week off with the kids as our child minder is on holiday. Monday it was a trip up the Dales and paddling in streams, yesterday was scorching so the days was spent at Ilkley lido. Today however I took Max and Emma to the Royal Armouries in Leeds. I was not sure if Emma would enjoy it, I knew Max would, however she enjoyed as much as he did. Having a go at the Vickers MG shooting game was the highlight. Saturday, 19 July 2014. Ilkley Old School: Morale in the War Game
http://ilkleyoldschool.blogspot.com/2015/08/morale-in-war-game.html
Tuesday, 4 August 2015. Morale in the War Game. Over the last few weeks I have been making some decisions on how I want to play my games using the War Game. You will no doubt have realised that these are my preferred set of rules for 18th Century games. I do however have a few house rules. Firstly I use these rules for both my Classic Prince August figures as well as my 28mm/30mm collection. One point is that my unit size varies depending on which collection I am using. Now you remember I am not having s...

The (Adopted) Son of Austerlitz: March 2012
http://sonofausterlitz.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
The (Adopted) Son of Austerlitz. Musings on miniatures and miscellania from Moravia. Monday, 5 March 2012. French Artillery, 10th Co, 6th FA Regt. It has come as somewhat of a surprise to me to realise that for a blog named after Austerlitz there has been little if any Napoleonic posting going on, what with all the SAGA and SYW stuff. So it's time to fix that. I do paint Napoleonics as well . The battery from behind. As usual, comments and criticism welcome. Sunday, 4 March 2012. Here is a group shot of ...
