Thursday, May 11, 2006. I've been reading Elizabeth. Lately. I find myself going back to her poems frequently, often feeling at home in them. I've got a copy of vol. 2 of her collected poems and I highly recommend it. For the purposes of our wonderful circle, however, I thought maybe the following would be appreciated/useful/thought-provoking/etc. On Reading Another Poet. I think we are being given the same messages. That oracles are speaking in our dreams. Syllables of unknown meaning. It will not matter.

Tuesday, April 18, 2006. Allow me to talk about Billy Collins’ poem. Written in 12 tercets (that syllabically are not haiku even though the subject is) that takes the haiku to new dimensions, Collins' poem centres the speaker’s experience with, and reaction to, poetry. Today I pass the time reading. A favorite haiku,. Saying the few words over and over. It feels like eating. The same small, perfect grape. I walk through the house reciting it. And leave its letters falling. Through the air of every room.
