questionthevalueofblogs: summer dreams
http://questionthevalueofblogs.blogspot.com/2011/01/summer-dreams.html
Wednesday, January 12, 2011. Exactly 6 months ago today, I took the picture above of the red zinnia, surrounded by lush greenery. I didn't bother, I like it fine. Sorry to digress a bit there. Snow is beautiful, the long low rays of the sun in winter can add magic to a picture. Beauty is not enough. How is one to stay in touch with living things when they are snug, covered with snow and inaccessible, for the most part. To illustrate the loveliness of winter, I illustrate with a photo taken yesterday:.

Poor Richard's Daughter: October 2007
http://poorrichardsdaughter.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
I’m from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, hence the Ben Franklin connection (e.g. Poor Richard’s Almanac). Even if it’s no longer technically true, I, along with many other women, perhaps, perpetually feel like someone’s daughter. And my dad’s name really was Richard. Someone once referred to me(affectionately, I think) as a real "Northeast" kind of woman. I suppose that's true. My favorite thing to write is creative nonfiction. View my complete profile. Spokane Workshop: Competition is good

Naked civic boosterism, the ongoing trials of an old mostly-not-haunted Charming Wreck of a house, cake, yarn, cats, and cake. Monday, February 1, 2010. Una nueva tienda de comestibles se ha abierto en Spokane. Espera, ¿por qué es que sale en español? Piñatas and the candy needed to fill them. But the most impressive aspect of El Mercado del Pueblo is filling our basket with tomatillos, dried chilies, four bottles of Jarritos. El Mercado del Pueblo in the winning category on price alone. Here's to compet...

Naked civic boosterism, the ongoing trials of an old mostly-not-haunted Charming Wreck of a house, cake, yarn, cats, and cake. Saturday, March 31, 2007. Breakfast at the Old European. The menus at the Old European used to be much longer, with lengthy explanations of just how "European" everything on the menu was. Pancakes? European. Fried Egg Sandwich? European. Punchline of a moderately filthy joke I used to tell in grade school? Labels: proof that I was an unpleasant child. Friday, March 30, 2007.

Spokane Workshop: Notes from a 2007 Dreamweaver Class

Naked civic boosterism, the ongoing trials of an old mostly-not-haunted Charming Wreck of a house, cake, yarn, cats, and cake. Friday, January 8, 2010. Notes from a 2007 Dreamweaver Class. In 2007, my company sent three of us to a Dreamweaver class put on by Compumaster at the airport Ramada. We learned nothing except why you should never take classes from Compumaster. Apparently I did make some notes (and doodles) on various sheets of Ramada note pad stationary which I rediscovered this morning. While w...

Naked civic boosterism, the ongoing trials of an old mostly-not-haunted Charming Wreck of a house, cake, yarn, cats, and cake. Friday, April 11, 2008. Ginkgo Watch 2008 - April. And, it really was a positive change. The amphitheater is visible again (and rehabilitation has begun). You can see the river now where it splits to surround the park. And this area now looks like it is part of Riverfront Park, and not some forgotten corner. Tuesday, April 8, 2008. I was also fairly close to Millennium Park which...
