Your guide has told you that they’re friendly, but that does nothing to que...Marine ...

Crouching rhino, hidden llama. Musings from Africa and South America. Monday, 24 November 2008. Porrettas in the Mist. We left all of our bags on the forest floor and headed up. My heart was beating and I was almost quivering with excitement. Suddenly, there they were! We walked around the area. Gorillas came from all directions. A small gorilla climbed a tree and we were amused to watch as it misjudged a branch and came crashing down with an embarrassed expression. All too quickly our hour with the gori...

Crouching rhino, hidden llama. Musings from Africa and South America. Monday, 18 August 2008. Equipment is bought, bags are packed, guide book spines are broken and we're almost off. After that it's home to the UK to replenish our packs with new pants before we head to Brazil for Christmas and New Year. From there we have four months to saunter through Argentina, Chile, Bolivia and Peru before we arrive in Equador to top it all off with a swanky Galapagos cruise. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Crouching rhino, hidden llama: February 2009

Crouching rhino, hidden llama. Musings from Africa and South America. Sunday, 22 February 2009. From the very south of Argentina we flew up to Buenos Aires, dolled up and went to La Cabrera - perhaps the best steak restaurant in the whole world, and then hopped on an 18 hour night bus to Salta, in the north of Argentina - gaucho country. With our host, the gaucho Milagro and his wife Alicia. Can somebody please remind mother nature that it is summer? We returned to the tent, piled up our sodden clothes a...

Crouching rhino, hidden llama
Crouching rhino, hidden llama. Musings from Africa and South America. Monday, 18 May 2009. My very last blog post. Permit me to get a little cheesy here as with a lump in my throat I try and sum up our amazing adventure. Here goes. Forcing our feet into action. Remote villages, camera shy children, old men with heavy loads and kind smiles, con artists, crowded buses. We've travelled thousands upon thousands of miles, eaten hundreds of delectable meals and met people who have shown us immeasurable. Appare...

Crouching Squirrel Hidden Monkey
Crouching Squirrel Hidden Monkey. Oregon trails 'n tales. Sunday, December 07, 2008. Eso Blogo es Muerto. Not much going on here huh? I originally started this blog to talk about biking and racing and training and other outdoor adventures. But since I don't train or race seriously anymore, general adventure stuff can just go in my other blog. So as a parting shot, here's my conclusions and analyses from this year. Spent more time on the mountain bike too. But then came the races with lots of climbing, li...

Slow down, please
Slow down, please. To experience exciting events. Thursday, October 6, 2011. Links to this post. Sunday, April 10, 2011. First day of soccer. By Sidney Lumet over the weekend. Absolutely brilliant. Sorry to learn that he passed away Saturday. You have meddled with the primal forces of nature, Mr. Beale, and I won't have it! You think you've merely stopped a business deal. That is not the case! The Arabs have taken billions of dollars out of this country, and now they must put it back! Links to this post.
