Online PR and privacy. Is public the new private? Archive December, 2010. Naked and standing in Knobs and Knockers. A few days ago I ‘checked-in’ to Knobs and Knockers. Now I wish that was as exciting as it sounds. In reality I was standing in a hardware shop in Yorkshire and perhaps the most interesting thing about my visit was that I used a location-based service for the first time. I used Facebook Places. They, like much social media. And marketing tools. As Brian Solis. Explains in his book , Engage.

Collected thoughts on pr and new media. Social Media – the new crime fighter? I have covered elsewhere in my blogs the use of social media in various situations those caught up in the police gun battle for a Mexican ‘drug lord’, the creation of online encyclopaedia, reporting court cases as they happen. But this week another use for the social media caught my eye. Facebook page set up by Avon and Somerset Police. The answer is yes. Nature of the information mean that it may not always be correct. Online PR and privacy. Is public the new private? Embracing the perils of a busy social life. With almost three months blogging under my belt I thought now would be a good time to reflect on how this blog has influenced my development as a public relations professional. Somewhere near the top of influences has to be a general increase in my understanding of just how much easier the web and social media. Increased risk of information exposure. The unpredictability of user-generated content. When someone m...

With thousands of twitter users retweeting the original tweet along with the #IAmSpartacus. The majority of the population understand that in the post- 9/11 world. Online PR and privacy. Is public the new private? Things to consider before you jump into the social media trifle. Is by using commonsense. In other words, use the grey matter. And don’t be stupid. But as I delve further into the subject, the more I disagreed with this idea. What is commonsense anyway? Thank god for Brian Solis.
