We always have something in the pipeline for our members. On 21st and 22nd May 2016, in conjunction with Carshalton and Sutton Model Railway Club and Wimbledon Model Railway Club, we will be cooperating with Honeywood Museum,. Croydonmrs.com/ Toop Tramway Layout

The layout was donated by the family of the late John Douglas Toop to Croydon Tramlink and displayed in their shop in George Street, Croydon while the new tram system was being constructed in the late 1990’s. It was subsequently offered to Croydon Model Railway Society. The layout comprises a continuous run double track, including a Depot. It represents a typical British town in the 1920’s to 1950’s. The layout measures 7 feet (2.13m) by 3 ft 6 ins (1.06m). Website design www.mydigitaldialogue.com.

This is the Society’s new ‘00’ gauge layout, which is currently under construction. The layout is based on British Railways Eastern Region practices in East Anglia in the 1950’s to 1960’s period. The layout is designed as a continuous circuit. All track-laying is complete and wiring of the baseboards is well advanced. The initial aim is to get the layout up and running for steam and diesel operation. The ultimate aim is to install 25kV overhead catenary to run commuter EMU services. In our imagination, h...

The layout is based on the station at Hemyock on the Culm Valley Light Railway. The only departure from prototype is the creation of the Hemlock Branch of the Grand Western Canal, hence the change of the name to Hemlock. The track plan and buildings are of the original Edwardian period. The layout including the fiddle yard is 15' 0 long by 1’8 wide. It is currently available for exhibiting. The layout is self supporting. 3 operators are required and it can generally be transported in 1 car.
