Monday, October 6, 2008. City of Austin attempts to use Google Maps to promote local businesses. It is a surprise to me that the City of Austin, in one of their attempts to modernize the COA web site presence, has spent the time and money to build a directory of Austin businesses on a Google Map base: www.explorelocalaustin.org. So why did the City create this? And where is it going? How could it possibly be useful? And why are we redundantly copying Google Maps and the world wide web? Links to this post.
