Dan and Donna's Cruising Adventures

Dan and Donna's Cruising Adventures. Saturday, March 26, 2011. Charlotte Harbor to HOME! We spent the last month of our adventure doing a little Yacht Club hopping and seeing some friends along the way. Part of the benefit of our Marathon Yacht Club membership is one nights' free dockage at any club that is a member of the Florida Yacht Council. Yes - that is FREE! It's a small world! A horrific storm chased us from Fort Myers Beach to Naples. We ALMOST made it! About 3 miles out it finally caught up to ...

Dan and Donna's Cruising Adventures: February 2011

http://cruisingonsyzygy.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Dan and Donna's Cruising Adventures. Sunday, February 20, 2011. We made it to Cedar Key and met up with our friend, Ed. Had a great time eating good food like fresh hearts of palm salad and seafood. For those of you who have never had the salad, it's worth a trip to Cedar Key just to try it - the "dressing" is pistachio ice cream! It just doesn't get any better than that. We also drove with Ed to some of the surrounding parks and hiked. They were fairly well behaved but some bad habits refused to die, ev...

Dan and Donna's Cruising Adventures: June 2010

Dan and Donna's Cruising Adventures. Tuesday, June 29, 2010. Bear Mountain State Park, NY. What a whirl wind the last couple weeks has been! No time to even breathe! From Atlantic City it was on to New York. We made the outside passage of 26 miles in the ocean with hardly any waves to speak of. Anchored just outside of the Verazano Bridge in Gravesend Bay for the night. The next morning we went under the bridge into New York Harbor! It was definately an awe inspiring time. They may never be the same!

Dan and Donna's Cruising Adventures: October 2010

http://cruisingonsyzygy.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Dan and Donna's Cruising Adventures. Friday, October 29, 2010. Lake Barkley, KY. The Mississippi and the Ohio Rivers are now behind us. While the current was pretty wicked due to flooding in Minnesota and Wisconsin, it was going with us and we made good time. There was a fair amount of barge traffic. The largest we saw was 35 barges in front of a huge tow! We spent the last two nights on the hook in a pretty little cove. We saw lots of white pelicans - and we do mean lots - 1000's of them! We are now cru...

Dan and Donna's Cruising Adventures. Monday, May 31, 2010. We're now in Maryland.Solomon's Island to be exact. We had a great couple days of cruising the Chesapeake, hopping from river to river. We are now in the Patuxent River which is the river north of the Potomac on the west side of the Chesapeake. We got here on Saturday afternoon and were lucky enough to get a mooring ball on this busy Holiday weekend. We've never seen so many boats! Certainly not us but we are so grateful to be where we are! We sp...
