Cruzing the Desert

We're living, loving and learning in the Utah Desert. On Thursday, January 13, 2011. Yes, life has been a little bit hectic (hence the 9-month lack of updates here). But just about two weeks ago we purchased a home in Layton, Utah. We love this place already, and we hope to stay put for a very very very long time (maybe forever). Here's a pic for those who might actually see this blog, and who wonder what the house looks like:. Photo courtesy of our inspector, Jason Rusch of Pillar to Post). 2 Greg is st...

We're living, loving and learning in the Utah Desert. Sure, it's been over seven months. On Tuesday, March 30, 2010. But in my defense I've been really focused on building readership on my professional blogs. Sorry, family dear. Here's an quick update on us:. 2 Greg is still doing well at work. He's slowly building is patient base, but luckily he's doing well enough that I don't have to work. Which is nice. 4 My book is still out on submission to a dozen or so editors. The publishing market is really...

Cruzing the Desert: October 2008

http://www.cruzingthedesert.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

We're living, loving and learning in the Utah Desert. The Primary Circus- Er, I Mean Program. On Sunday, October 26, 2008. Today was our Primary Program during Sacrament Meeting, but I have to admit that is was the most entertaining program I've seen yet. There are two reasons why. One girl talked about how she could show her love for the Savior by being nice to the babysitter so her parents could go on a date. One boy said his part and then finished with, "Now I'll go sit down and stop talking.". We too...

Cruzing the Desert: Updates!

http://www.cruzingthedesert.blogspot.com/2009/05/updates.html

We're living, loving and learning in the Utah Desert. On Tuesday, May 5, 2009. Sorry, I've been so busy with my other blog (I confess, it's the one I love because I can talk about all things writing) that I keep forgetting to update this one. Update #1: The kids have been sick. Lots. It's a vicious cycle. Update #4: Daniel's birthday is in 3 days. We are going to try to go to the zoo, but Greg's work schedule is up in the air this week so we aren't sure what day that will happen exactly. Update #6: As fo...

Ammon at School: August 2008

http://thekidsatschool.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

It used to be my brothers and sisters. Now it's only me. Come see how my homeschool is going. Monday, August 25, 2008. Two Fieldtrips while on Vacation. We went on vacation to visit our family back in Utah this month. While we were there, our mom and Aunt Erin and Grandma Putnam took us on two cool fieldtrips. Then they took us into their huge fridge. It was a warehouse fridge full of aging cheese! On Saturday, August 16th we went with all our cousins and Aunt Erin and Grandma Putnam to the Utah State Ca...

Sorry it's a bit late, but here's what we accomplished last week in our homeschool. Together (Mom's reading it outloud to us boys). Ammon at School: The Month in Review--September

http://thekidsatschool.blogspot.com/2008/10/month-in-review-september.html

It used to be my brothers and sisters. Now it's only me. Come see how my homeschool is going. Sunday, October 5, 2008. The Month in Review- September. NOTE: The week in review was getting to be a little too much to keep up with (not to mention a little boring), so I've switched to the Month In Review format instead. That will free up some time to focus on the more interesting/exciting things happening in our homeschool. - Elissa. We accomplished so much in September! Our co-op is turning out great! Readi...

It used to be my brothers and sisters. Now it's only me. Come see how my homeschool is going. Thursday, January 22, 2009. Book Report on "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" by Ammon. I just read The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick. This book was.I can't explain it. It was awesome. It was the best book I've read in months. The coolest thing about this book is that there are more pictures than words. The pictures tell part of the story and then the words take over to help tell the story. We don't hav...

It used to be my brothers and sisters. Now it's only me. Come see how my homeschool is going. Monday, October 27, 2008. Today I, Ammon, figured out how to spell words. You may wonder why I didn't learn this before, but spelling has always been hard for me to do. I can read the words just fine, but trying to write them down hasn't worked well. But today my mom and I sat down and figured out exactly where I needed help, then she showed me how to fix it so I could learn to spell. Friday, October 10, 2008.

http://thekidsatschool.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

It used to be my brothers and sisters. Now it's only me. Come see how my homeschool is going. Thursday, June 26, 2008. Today Mom took us to visit a bagel factory to see how bagels are made. We also went with some of our homeschooled friends. We got to see them stick the bagels in the huge steam oven, we watched them teach us how to dip a bagel to get the seeds or onions on top, and we even watched one lady braid challah bread. This is a picture of us next to the really big mixer. Holy cow! We also offer ...

Cruising the Med 2010

Cruising the Med 2010. Friday, July 2, 2010. Day 18: The Journey Home. After a quick ten minute ride, we were pulling into the station at the airport. European transportation is awesome! We had a short, uneventful flight, and arrived in Orlando just a few minutes late. We were worried about our bags arriving, given our tight connection, but they appeared very quickly. The parking lot shuttle showed up in about 10 minutes, we grabbed our car, and headed for home. What an amazing trip! Monday, June 21, 2010.
