Sep 18, 2000 News. The ALVIN Cruise to 9 N in 2000 (my first deep-sea voyage). We left port from San Diego, CA to begin a five day ride to 9 N latitude. We were to stay on site for 11 days and then cruise into port in Manzanillo, Mexico to fly home. The begining of the journey to a depth of 2500 meters.
