The Pacific Eclectic Power Company: May 2005

The Pacific Eclectic Power Company. Every Day is a Special Occasion. Saturday, May 28, 2005. Looking ahead a little to tomorrow, and back a bit more to 1961, one can't help but think about time. Didn't Einstein say that time is like an accordion that stretches and squeezes when played by memory? Or was that Lawrence Welk? Einstein's brain must be turning over in its jar. The Pacific Eclectic Power Company. Every Day is a Special Occasion. Monday, November 28, 2005. In the early 1950s, the French magazine of film criticism Cahier du Cinema developed the Politique des Auteurs. Lost in this undue adulation of directors is the brilliant work of some truly great collaborative talents; producers like Darryl F. Zanuck and Hal Wallis, check their credits on IMDB. And maybe the greatest hollywood writer of them all, Ben Hecht. Posted by BJMe @ Monday, November 28, 2005. Coinciden...

The Pacific Eclectic Power Company. Every Day is a Special Occasion. Wednesday, December 28, 2005. Good Night, and Good Luck. Good Night, and Good Luck is two movies, one a little bit better than the other. The better movie is made up of the archival kinescope footage of live television (it wasn't generally refered to as TV back then) coverage of a couple of Congressional hearings that occured in 1953 and '54. The Pacific Eclectic Power Company. Every Day is a Special Occasion. Wednesday, June 29, 2005. Bush Declares Sacrifice in Iraq to Be 'Worth It'. George Bush scares me. Seriously. Even though he boosted. The presidency in 2000, he seemed a relatively mindless and harmless sort. But he obviously had a hidden agenda. Eventual events show that he was ready and eager to go to war against Iraq and needed only the irrelevant excuse of a "War against Terrorism" to bring that agenda out of hiding. June 26, 2005.

The Pacific Eclectic Power Company. Every Day is a Special Occasion. Sunday, September 25, 2005. I just realized that though I screened the Sap City DVD some months ago, I hadn't bothered to comment on it. It was, after all, eminently forgettable. I take into account that it is merely a filmed comic book. But forgive me, I also forgot: it is really an oh-so-pretentious graphic novel. Posted by BJMe @ Sunday, September 25, 2005. The Pacific Eclectic Power Company. Every Day is a Special Occasion. Sunday, October 23, 2005. Flyboys : A True Story of Courage. FLYBOYS is the most compelling and involving book I have read in quite some time. James Bradley follows his best-selling Flags of Our Fathers with this comprehensive Pacific War-themed history. There is much about the United States incursion into Tokyo Bay in 1853 and Japan’s Pacific islands that I knew little about, and I daresay that many America Firstists either don’t know ...
