Small memorial garden tucked away in the City Of London, close to St Paul's Cathedral whose centrepiece is a wall of 47 hand-painted tiles that pay tribute to everyday people who sacrificed their lives helping others. The park features in the Mike Nichols'-directed film, Closer (starring Julia Roberts, Natalie Portman, Clive Owen and Jude Law. It is located between King Edward Street, Little Britain and Angel Street. Museum of garden history. Old operating theatre and herb garret.

The permanent exhibition includes such oddities and coups as Napoleon's toothbrush, a lock of George III's hair, ancient Japanese sex aids, artificial limbs, chastity belts, a shrunken head, diagnostic dolls, a mummified man (see above), skeletons and phallic tribal amulets. 183 Euston Road, London NW1 2BE.

Worth visiting simply to see the amazing Vegetable Lamb of Tartary (above), The Museum Of Garden History is housed inside a lovely old parish church attached to Lambeth Palace (where the Archbishop of Canterbury lives). Essentially, this is one large room but enough to keep you interested for an hour or so. Lots of ancient gardening implements and curios in glass cases. Lambeth Palace Road, London SE1 7LB. Pound;5 Senior Citizens. View my Tags page.
