Bitmaps

http://www.cse4k12.org/binary/bitmaps.html

Computer Science and Engineering for K-12. Bitmaps are a way of encoding black and white images using binary numbers. A '0' is used to represents a white square in the image and a '1' is used to represent a black square. These worksheets provide a set of 8x8 grids where the student can draw their own black and white images and then write the corresponding binary (and hexadecimal) values. Basic familiarity with binary/hexadecimal numbers and how to convert between them. Bitmap (instructions and worksheet).

Number cards

http://www.cse4k12.org/cards/number_cards.html

Computer Science and Engineering for K-12. These cards can be printed out and used to help teach these various number systems. By printing out all of these cards, the positions of the different number systems can be compared to see why converting between binary and decimal is 'hard' while converting between binary and octal/hexadecimal is easy. The original template used to create these cards is also available. Basic familiarity with positional number systems. Octal and Decimal Cards.

Converting from Decimal to Binary

http://www.cse4k12.org/binary/convert_dec2bin.html

Computer Science and Engineering for K-12. Converting from Decimal to Binary. This worksheet demonstrates how to convert from decimal to binary by repeatedly subtracting powers of 2 from the decimal number. Basic familiarity with decimal and binary numbers. Decimal to Binary Conversion. These documents were created by Gary Kacmarcik. These documents are licensed under a. Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported License.

Octal Dots

http://www.cse4k12.org/octal/octal_dots.html

Computer Science and Engineering for K-12. This worksheet is similar to the octal counting. Worksheets, but in this case the students are given an octal number and they must draw the appropriate number of dots and then write the corresponding decimal number. Basic familiarity with octal numbers. These documents were created by Gary Kacmarcik. These documents are licensed under a. Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported License.

Perfect Shuffles

http://www.cse4k12.org/binary/perfect_shuffle.html

Computer Science and Engineering for K-12. Card magicians have long known that if you can perform a "perfect shuffle" then you can make it appear like you're shuffling the cards into a random order while you are actually controlling where the cards are going. The most well-known example of this is that if you perform 8 perfect shuffles on a standard 52-card deck, the cards will return to their original order. Basic familiarity with binary numbers. Perfect Shuffle (How to Shuffle).

Binary Numbers - Computer Science Unplugged

http://csunplugged.org/binary-numbers

Class Simulation of a Computer. The binary number system plays a central role in how information of all kinds is stored on computers. Understanding binary can lift a lot of the mystery from computers, because at a fundamental level they’re really just machines for flipping binary digits on and off. There are several activities on binary numbers in this document, all simple enough that they can be used to teach the binary system to anyone who can count! Instructions for Binary Numbers activity (English).

Who am I, O Sovereign Lord, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? Friday, June 12, 2015. Just outside the window from where I am sitting, there are trees that are bright green, full of leaves, and providing shade for the entire yard. That may not sound significant, because we all know that most trees are green and full of leaves. That is what they are supposed to have and that is what they are supposed to look like. But, they weren’t and they aren’t. In His Grace,. This past Sunday, w...
