Warhorse (2011) | Culture Critic

Thoughts about stuff I’ve seen, read or heard. Laquo; Fast Food Nation (2006). At Home by Bill Bryson. Just watched the DVD of Warhorse (and listening to Mark Kermode’s review of it while I write). Warhorse –directed by Steven Spielberg. And based on the book by Michael Morpurgo. It made me think of Black Beauty… it is like Black Beauty in a different more modern setting, around the time of the first world war. Mark Kermode said the word that was in my mind… it is sentimental. From your own site.
The Street Lawyer by John Grisham | Culture Critic

Thoughts about stuff I’ve seen, read or heard. The Street Lawyer by John Grisham. I enjoy Grisham and this particular book was recommended to me by a friend. Apparently, John Grisham’s earlier books are better than his later ones. It is a similar type of beginning to another excellent Grisham book, “The Testament”. Not sure if I mis read that bit or whether that is what happens in America. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:.

Thoughts about stuff I’ve seen, read or heard. Archive for March, 2014. March 9, 2014. I had always had mixed feelings about Simon Cowell’s My Nasty Character on the X Factor. I never watched it regularly, but enough to get the idea. Simon Cowell would say it “how it is”, brutally if necessary. It was also entertainment while the judges would argue with each other and the others would try and show how “nice” (yuck! You are currently browsing the Culture Critic. Thoughts about stuff I’ve seen, read or heard. Archive for November, 2012. November 3, 2012. This film is a renowned classic. Robert de Niro plays Al Capone and Kevin Costner as federal agent Elliott Ness. As a child I had accepted that prohibition had once existed back in the ancient past called the thirties. Now as an adult, I realise the thirties wasn’t that long ago and it seems strange to believe such a law existed and for a number of years, 1920-1933 see wikipedia. Blog archives for November, 2012.
Irritation | Culture Critic

Thoughts about stuff I’ve seen, read or heard. Laquo; The Untouchables. I watched a science program this evening. In it there were interesting theories about how life began. Then, right at the end, the scientist had the utter gall to say, that life, maybe, had to come into existence to obey the laws of physics. Facebook’s Public Search Listing Policy Pretty Skeezy. April 7th, 2009. As of September 5 2007, Facebook started offering data about you publicly to non-friends and non-facebook users with what as known as your Public Search Listing. Because facebook is such a popular site, if you have a unique name, often your public search listing will be one of the first sites that come up if your name is googled. However, this page will still remain as one of the top results for your name. Try running curl -I http:/ ...
