September 2013 - Culture Shock Therapy

http://www.cultureshocktherapy.co/2013_09_01_archive.html

I'm a Bad Feminist. Monday, September 16, 2013. As an independent 20-something woman living in New York City, it's not hard to fathom that I consider myself a feminist. Honestly, I feel as if issues like equal pay, Title 9, fair education, the right to choose and effective contraception are just common sense, but I can see how my convictions place me in the Gloria Steinem. Me, dressed as Whitney Houston impersonating Rosie the Riveter. I'm a bad feminist because. 3 I haven't missed a Miss USA or Miss Ame...

May 2013 - Culture Shock Therapy

Dancing with Xavier Le Pop Star. Tuesday, May 28, 2013. My mom took me to see the musical "Fame" when I was a kid. From that moment I wanted to dance and sing in front of a large crowd. I would watch the Fly Girls on TV and feel the powerful urge to do the butterfly. Today was basically a fly girl. Which basically makes me J.Lo. I danced back-up for my very talented co-worker, Jeffrey aka "Xavier Le Pop Star" on national television (talk about a large crowd! Our dance starts at 5:30. Skating to the Oldies.

A Few of My Favorite Things. Monday, November 25, 2013. If Oprah can make a big deal about her favorite things. I can too. Please sing to the tune of "Favorite Things" by Julie Andrews. Instrumental for your convenience: http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? Fat dogs on skateboards. And iphone finger mittens. Of Babies and kittens. Oh, the joy that it brings. These are a few of my favorite things. And more things with bacon. Laughing so hard that I just can't. To order some Frings. Straight shots of Red Bull,.

January 2017 - Culture Shock Therapy

http://www.cultureshocktherapy.co/2017_01_01_archive.html

Taking back my ring finger. Wednesday, January 04, 2017. For the record.none of these are engagement rings. I am writing this blog to express my feelings on finger discrimination. I don't really like to wear earrings. I feel like they demand too much attention, they make my ears hurt, and they always get snagged in my hair. I wear a pair of sensible diamond studs 365 days a year. Bracelets are ok. I like bracelets. Some of you might thinking, "Brittany, you're being dramatic. Surely you can wear a ri...

Culture Shock Thailand - Home Page

A guide for visitors to the Land of Smiles. Thailand Culture is unique and apart from the obvious Do's and Dont's there are a whole range of other cultural differences which can be frustrating to understand, but for me, makes Thailand such a special place. You may hear the term Thainess which is often used to label the Thai perspective on life, but the term is in itself is as simplistic as Thai people are complex. I'll try to cover this topic from two angles. Where else can I get help? There are books an...

Travel photos from all over the world. The photos you see here represent about 14 years of business and personal travel to some of the far corners of the earth. Many of the photos have stories behind them, and I'll try to slowly add them as I get the chance. Check out the photos from the Thaipusam celebrations. Trying to get online from the road? I've started compiling a list of non-global-chain hotels with free or cheap wifi. Some of them in out-of-the-way places. May 2008), Netherlands.

Culture Shock

Thursday, February 28, 2008. Check out this young man. The remarkable thing about him is that he is alive in the spirit sense. There is a light in his eyes. As you watch, what you will see is the "building" of a "self", or a "self under construction". To put it in plainly, he ain't bite'in off a pop image. As you will see, he's quite fond of the term "don't sleep". This term (borrowed from 1980's hip hop culture) is about being engaged in what's going on around you. I agree! Monday, February 18, 2008.

Merriam-Webster Names ‘Culture’ The 2014 Word Of The Year. NEW YORK (AP) A nation, a workplace, an ethnicity, a passion, an outsized personality. The people who comprise these things, who fawn or rail against them, are behind Merriam- Webster’s 2014 word of the year: culture. The word joins Oxford Dictionaries’ vape, a darling of the e-cigarette movement, and exposure, declared the year’s winner at Dictionary.com during a time of tragedy and fear due to Ebola. What Can Traveling Teach Us About Culture?
