Tree Planting for Belays. We are in consultation with a Climber from the National Trust with regards to looking at places where we can plant trees for future belays. There are a number of vital belay points that are trees and these are either not safe anymore or will not be in the future. We are looking at planting new trees to replace the old. We need your help. Back in 2010 after extensive permission granting and initial research by Ron Kenyon and his crew the first bolts were placed and first assents climbed by Ron, Dan, and the rest of the team that day. Ron funded this project out of his own back pocket donations to this crag. The crag now has a great selection of sandy routes and all the info can be found in the new FRCC guide to that area.

Fell Races

The annual fell race for the club starts at the Royal Hotel at Dockray at 11.00 am (had previously been 1.00pm) on the day of the Club Dinner. The Race runs round Gowbarrow, passing over the summit and starting and finishing at the Royal. The route can be done in either direction. Food can be purchased afterwards in the Hotel. Fell Race Results – all years. 2016 Race – 7th February 2016. Meg 58-07 (though she was hampered by having to wait for Johnny). 2015 Race – 10th January 2015. Well done to all.

WELSH WEEKEND – 8-10 July 2016. 12 gathered at the Shrewsbury MC hut – Saturday was not good – however a trip to Newborough Forest on Anglesey and a walk along to the Llanddwyn Island really made the day – as well as the communal meal back at the hut in the even. Expectations of sunshine were dashed on the sunday however a tour of the slate quarries gave a great insight into this place with looks at crags; ascent of ladders and other aspects.
