Our Suburban Journey Towards Self Sufficiency. Our aim is to become as self sufficint as possible on a 3320smtr suburban block. Sunday, June 6, 2010. Chicken Coop Build - The Final Stages. This weekend we added the final touches to the chicken coop and hen house. The posts are up, the wire is strained, water tank installed and 3/4 full already with all of the rain we have been blessed with. This afternoon we 'fitted out' the hen house with roosting perches, nesting boxes etc. Now to add chickens.

Program with heaps of workshops and activities which you can join in. I'm looking forward to attending a free chook care workshop tomorrow to learn more about our new chickens. And in the afternoon I might take a leisurely stroll through the local markets :) One of my favorite stalls is Idyllic Candles.

We have installed a 2kw grid connected solar system recently. We were lucky enough to get our paperwork submitted the morning the buy back rate was cut, guaranteeing a buyback rate of 60c per kw hour for us until 2017. I will post some images shortly.
