Travels With Children: Books at Christmas
http://jennifer-travelswithchildren.blogspot.com/2016/12/books-at-christmas.html
Tuesday, December 20, 2016. This year I bought eight Christmas picture books, wrapped them and put one under the tree a day for eight days. The thrill of unwrapping something new, especially at Christmastime, is a delightful way to get into the spirit and to start a new day off on the right foot. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Travels With Children: February 2016
http://jennifer-travelswithchildren.blogspot.com/2016_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 29, 2016. What's more fun than digging in the dirt? Certainly none of the kids with us a few days ago would disagree. We spent the cool and breezy day at Spring Villa Park. The purpose: to celebrate a birthday and dig for quartz! I should mention that when I told my husband where we had been that day his response was swift. "You do know there are major sinkholes out there don't you? So while we had a lot of fun, I think we'll find somewhere else to dig next time around. Who am I kidding?

Travels With Children: Kids Say the Darndest Things

Friday, December 16, 2016. Kids Say the Darndest Things. You know all those hilarious comments your kids make and you think, hey, I should write that down, but you never do. I tried it one morning a few weeks ago and captured some real gems. Sidenote: Sirius is the name of one of our dogs. Oh my goodness, did you give me six pancakes? I want to have a pj day. Sirius, I am serious. I am serious. Those are pretend flowers Sirius. I'm gonna have to wear glasses for that. Is milk good for you? Here's my hand...

Travels With Children: July 2016
http://jennifer-travelswithchildren.blogspot.com/2016_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 31, 2016. A Weekend With the Girls. Last weekend I nourished my soul and refreshed my spirit by hanging out with some of my life-long friends for a three-night, four-day trip. We traveled to Charleston, S.C., and stayed on the second floor of a two-story rental property. We wanted to all be together in the same house, not separate rooms like in a hotel, and we enjoyed our time together more than I can put into words. We all agreed this should become a yearly thing, and I SO hope it will.

Travels With Children: March 2016

Tuesday, March 22, 2016. First Pensacola, Then New Orleans. Last week we spent two days in Pensacola, FL, before heading to New Orleans, LA. Here's our trip in pictures:. Dinner at McGuire's Irish Pub in Pensacola. Money hangs from the ceiling there. The New Orleans Zoo. The New Orleans Aquarium. Little people, big tank, glowing eyes. Cafe du Monde - where beignets and coffee are about the only things on the menu (no complaints from us). And checkers action at a Cracker Barrel somewhere along the way.

Travels With Children: January 2016
http://jennifer-travelswithchildren.blogspot.com/2016_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 18, 2016. I was blown away. We've been all over and have visited museums across the United States, but I was not prepared for how much I would love the McWane Science Center in downtown Birmingham, Ala. Birmingham is about a two-hour drive for us. It's one we've made many times for various reasons. I kept telling myself we needed to go to the McWane Center on one of the trips, but never made it a priority. Wednesday, January 6, 2016. What We Read Before/After Christmas. Patricia Polacco m...

Travels With Children: January 2017

Tuesday, January 31, 2017. The Year of Dickens. I realize most of you know 2017 as the year of the Rooster, but I'm calling it the year of Dickens. That's because this year we are attempting to read all of the works by Charles Dickens. We actually began at the end of 2016 with "A Christmas Carol." We currently have two novels going. I'm reading aloud "David Copperfield," which Virginia Woolf praised as the best of all the Dickens novels. And we're listening to "Oliver Twist" through Audible. There are so...

Travels With Children: December 2015
http://jennifer-travelswithchildren.blogspot.com/2015_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 30, 2015. This weather pattern known as El Nino has put a real damper on things this holiday season. Even now, as I type, there's a steady and constant rain outside my window. Most of my pictures of the actual show are somewhat blurry because I had to snap them on the moving "Jolly Trolley" ride. As we approached the second checkpoint, Jack asked if we were going to have to take off our shoes. Now that's the sign of a well-traveled child! Monday, December 21, 2015. This year Mattie is...

Travels With Children: New York in December
http://jennifer-travelswithchildren.blogspot.com/2017/01/new-york-in-december.html
Wednesday, January 4, 2017. New York in December. It's the most wonderful time of the year. With the kids jingle belling. And everyone telling you be of good cheer. It's the most wonderful time of the year". Nowhere is this catchy jingle more true than New York at Christmastime. We flew out on a late flight on Saturday night and went straight to our hotel. We always stay at The Lucerne on the West Side. Sunday (Aladdin, Banana Splits, Rockefeller Center and Snow):. Mattie and I were the two that wanted t...
