The Daisy Chain: September 2014
http://lisasdaisychain.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 27, 2014. I've lost another of my precious kitties. Pollock was a stray that came to live at my house eight years ago. She was a sweet cat, but was my "special needs" girl since she had some health and litter box issues. I'd been giving her thyroid medicine daily for the past three years, but earlier this year she began losing weight, a lot of it. Then in late July she stopped eating. I may even consider another tortoiseshell cat. Pollock taught me a lot of things: being more pati...

The Daisy Chain: Jog Days of Summer
http://lisasdaisychain.blogspot.com/2015/08/jog-days-of-summer.html
Saturday, August 8, 2015. Jog Days of Summer. I ran this hot, hilly 5K today at Chastain Park and what made it far more tolerable was my friends Joy and Sasha who wanted to do it with me. My Atlanta Track Club membership came in handy, because one of them got to use my guest pass. I was hoping both of them could use it, but one of the codes didn't work. Oh well. I think every year I consider NOT running this one. But since it is a free to track club members race, it's hard to skip it. Sasha, Joy and me.

The Daisy Chain: Sleepless in Seattle
http://lisasdaisychain.blogspot.com/2015/06/sleepless-in-seattle.html
Tuesday, June 16, 2015. I've just spent five days in Seattle, Washington, and had a great time visiting and completed a race in my 18th state with the Rock n Roll Seattle Half Marathon. I should have known how great a trip it would be when I saw this outside the plane window on the descent. Absolutely breathtaking, Mount Rainier. I got to Seattle Thursday afternoon and met up with my running buddy Peggy. We stayed with her friends who own a lovely home in West Seattle, overlooking Puget Sound. We were up...

The Daisy Chain: Gallop & Groove
http://lisasdaisychain.blogspot.com/2015/06/gallop-groove.html
Wednesday, June 3, 2015. After a two week hiatus of running in a sanctioned race, I was back this past Saturday with the Gallop and Groove 5K. It was the first time I'd done this one, which was part of the Candler Park Arts and Music Festival. What a hilly course! I think I say that about every course I run in Atlanta, so perhaps I should just not point that out any more. Atlanta is hilly! I was delighted, even if there were only two of us in my age group. Ha ha! Still, it was nice to see.

The Daisy Chain: July 2015
http://lisasdaisychain.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 11, 2015. Swimming the Peachtree Road Race. For this year's Peachtree Road Race 10K, swim fins might have been more helpful than running shoes. I expected light off and on showers, if any rain, and instead I got a steady downpour, a course evacuation, and really, really wet. The morning started out cool, with light rain. In fact, it didn't start raining until I was heading into the MARTA train station. I actually had to make a run for it. Riding along on MARTA. Getting ready to start.

The Daisy Chain: March 2015
http://lisasdaisychain.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 14, 2015. Ah, March in Atlanta. It's either very warm and the pollen starts to bloom in earnest, or it remains cold and we all wonder when spring will arrive. Sometimes, March does a bit of both! This year, March is remaining fairly cold. Usually by now I've been able to turn off my heat. I love that grace period twice a year in Atlanta when I don't have to run heat or the air conditioner. It's usually just a few weeks, but it feels so freeing not to have giant utility bills! Two Surly Gi...

The Daisy Chain: August 2015
http://lisasdaisychain.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 22, 2015. I ran a new 5K this morning, the Walk, Wag N Run 5K. This race in Brookhaven benefited Ahimsa House. A domestic violence shelter that allows pets. I'm so glad I ran this race and helped this cause. I believe this race will make my list for years to come. I met up with my friends Ellie and Dave and their dog, Zaxby. Me, Ellie,Dave and the Zaxster! Zaxby meets a friend! I slowed down the third mile, but until then I was running 11:30 minute miles! Coming in to the finish. Still, ...
