Thoughts on Education

Thoughts about issues affecting education across the world today. Friday, 24 October 2014. One issue that has always been of interest/annoyance to me is the attitude in the UK to learning foreign languages. Languages are beautiful, ancient methods of communication, not to mention useful when you go abroad, however the British people and other English speaking peoples are some of the worst language learners in the world - we as a people know barely enough words to hold a basic conversation. Personally, I ...

Thoughts on Education : Unpaid Internships

http://www.curiosityandpassion.blogspot.com/2014/03/unpaid-internships.html

Thoughts about issues affecting education across the world today. Tuesday, 25 March 2014. Unpaid internships in the arts are surprisingly common. I thought it was quite an acceptable way to get experience until my fellow students in Law, Economics and Financial Maths pointed out that they wouldn't even consider. An internship if it was unpaid, on principle! Obviously these rates will go up and down depending where you are in the country, but my point is that rarely does a person have £8,000 to spare.

Thoughts about issues affecting education across the world today. Sunday, 23 February 2014. I first became seriously interested in looking into education when I heard Ken Robinson's How To. Escape Education's Death Valley. For those of you that don't know, TED talks ( www.ted.com/talks. Are 15 minute lectures given by industry professionals on pretty much any topic you can think of. The website is a fountain of information for the curious mind - which mine is, hence the URL of this blog. If you would be ...

Thoughts on Education : June 2014

http://www.curiosityandpassion.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Thoughts about issues affecting education across the world today. Monday, 23 June 2014. The financial value of degrees. If you had to put a price on arts degrees, would it be less than STEM degrees? According to this snapshot, yes. If you had to choose a profession for your son/daughter/grandchild etc. to be in for the rest of their life what would it be? Does this stem from some kind of deep need to feel valued by a society which values money? If you want to be happy, be.". You will soon find out whethe...

Curiosity and Karma | Just another WordPress.com weblog

Just another WordPress.com weblog. May 3, 2012 by rhianonmat. I know what you did. I know why you did it. I also know that you’re going to have to live with it for the rest of your life. I’ve forgiven you again and again for the things that you’ve done to me. This is different. This time you attacked my children. You attacked my husband. I’m through forgiving. You are not my family… no longer. I will never forgive this. Ever. Don’t call me, don’t email me. Don’t bother. Join 5 other followers.

Curiosity and the Cupcake

Wednesday, January 14, 2015. My small side obsession with wooden spoons began after I read An Everlasting Meal. One of my favourite books about food. I have a jar full of wooden spoons, almost all burned from my bad habit of leaving them in the pot I’ve been stirring.
