http://gatesheadandbeyond.blogspot.com/2015/08/blackwit-record.html

A morning walk around Watergate gave 4 Little Grebe, plus singing Reed and Willow Warbler. 37 of 38 Black-tailed Godwit. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The calm before the storm? Eastern Bush Chat: April 2015
http://easternbushchat.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
A ramble through the life of a birder and wildlife enthusiast based in the beautiful county of Norfolk. Thursday, 30 April 2015. Gorillas That Are Missed. Friday, 24 April 2015. A lone migrant making its way north through Israel. These perky birds seemed to appear out of nowhere whistling their three note. Welcome as soon as we stepped out of the car. They were after free hand-outs. And as soon as they realised none were forthcoming upped and disappeared. Another scavenger that seemed quite used to people.

http://easternbushchat.blogspot.com/2015/08/stop-that-pigeon.html
A ramble through the life of a birder and wildlife enthusiast based in the beautiful county of Norfolk. Tuesday, 18 August 2015. They do have another side, so I would like to offer an alternative view of these much maligned creatures. And grudgingly developed affection for what turned out to be a philandering, fearless thug. Despite his deformity, he would strut along the garden path heedless of the odd cat that strayed into the vicinity, he would beat up any rival that dared stray into his realm, he...

Gateshead and Beyond: July 2015
http://gatesheadandbeyond.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Friday, 31 July 2015. Five days working in the north west of Scotland. Hard slogs over peat hags and lonely vigils on cold, windswept hillsides revealed few birds, but fly pasts by a Golden Eagle cheered me up. In brief moments of almost sunshine a few Large Heath limped over the moors. Sunday, 26 July 2015. A lazy day yesterday watching the Tour de France on the telly with a quick look out last night to see the Black-tailed Godwit at Shibdon and a Common Seal at Timber Beach. Friday, 24 July 2015. Up to...

Gateshead and Beyond: March 2015
http://gatesheadandbeyond.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 31 March 2015. Two rubbish days around Gateshead. The cold wind keeping the migrants back, hopefully not for much longer. Chiffchaff from the hide at Lamesley. Sunday, 29 March 2015. No sign of the eagle today, just sheep. The highlight of today. One more from yesterday. Saturday, 28 March 2015. Not much else seen from my vigil on the moor, but plenty of Golden Plover and displaying Snipe and Curlew. No sign of the shrike at Stanhope, but there was a Toad on the path. Friday, 27 March 2015.

Gateshead and Beyond: Purple Hairstreak
http://gatesheadandbeyond.blogspot.com/2015/08/purple-hairstreak.html
Saturday, 8 August 2015. All quiet for birds in Gateshead today. Just a single Black-tailed Godwit at Shibdon this morning. A bit of sun meant a trip to Kibblesworth Brickworks was rewarded by some tantalising views of 4-5 Purple Hairstreak in the oak tops. Purple Hairstreak- the best I could manage! Other butterflies seen were Meadow Brown, Peacock, Large White, Small Heath, Small Skipper and Small Tortoiseshell. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The calm before the storm? More of the same.

Gateshead and Beyond: More Caspo
http://gatesheadandbeyond.blogspot.com/2015/08/more-caspo.html
Sunday, 2 August 2015. Quiet again around Gateshead this morning so headed up the coast for another look at the Amble Caspian Gull. Seen immediately on arrival it showed well on the sand bank opposite the harbour. As well as the above taken with the DSLR I had a practice phone scoping. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
