CURMUDGEON'S CORNER
Come in and meet the Curmudgeon . As you will observe if you delve deeper into this website, those ruminations are often of a type (popularly denigrated as "politically incorrect") which would not win me much favor in the mainstream media or an invitation to return to my eastern college, or even my somewhat more conservative law school, assuming that I had a desire to return, which happily I do not. Bark back at the Curmudgeon:. Current (or not so current) Content:. The Year of Living Timidly. Just Go, '...

It is in their memory and in their honor that I take up this mantle, and seek to add my own meager voice to their collected wisdom. Posted by JJ Biener. Links to this post. Wednesday, September 27, 2017. Football players and other entertainers make bad messengers these days. As military people, we hold ourselves to a higher standard of performance than most civilians. Indeed, by law, we are bound to adhere to a far more rigid standard than the rest of you. But we tell ourselves it's so that you in civilian life can continue to enjoy your freedoms. And we mean it. On the other hand, let's take a look at what they're doing. When you stand for the National Anthem, you are stan...

The Curmudgeon Speaks
Where reasonable minds disagree. Monday, February 25, 2013. This is a transcript of the speech I gave in accepting my induction onto the Ben Davis High School Alumni Wall of Fame, on February 23, 2013. I work with words. I am a writer. A wordsmith. I put together words to form sentences, and sentences to form paragraphs, and paragraphs to create whole narratives. I understand that technical training and standardized tests have their place, but they only take you as far as everybody else - average. Le...
