Historic Painted Theater Curtains. Curtains Without Borders is a conservation team dedicated to documenting and preserving historic painted scenery. The painted curtains are found in town halls, grange halls, theaters and opera houses. Historic Painted Theater Curtains. Curtains Without Borders is a group of conservators, their assistants and a part-time director who work as a team. We rely heavily on small grants, individual donations and the money sites raise for us to do conservation work. Historic Painted Theater Curtains. The conservation team consists of three conservators, a project director, an advisory committee, a rigger and a photographer. We also have several conservation technicians, one of whom has become a painting conservator in her own right, one who is also a textile artist and one who has abandoned art for science. Matthew Christopher for photo workshops in 2016! First, we will be returning to the Victory Theatre in Holyoke, MA on April 9, 2016. The Victory Theatre.
