8月もまだまだ暑いが、朝晩の空気がさわやかになりつつあるのを感じるこの時期、僕はしばらく封印していた自転車で通勤を開始した。クリニックまでは自転車を軽快に走らせると、15分程度で到着するので程良い運動になる。朝からぶっつづけで手術をこなした後、自転車で六本木通りの坂道を汗びっしょりになりながら登って自宅に戻る。この時期オリンピックが気になり、シャワーを浴びる前についついテレビをつけてしまう。テレビをつけた途端、その競技が何であろうと、僕の目はしばし釘付けになる。特にメダル争いの真剣勝負を見ていると、僕自身も選手の気持ちに同化してしまい、手に汗を握っている。金メダルのプレッシャーがかかった試合前、どの選手も顔は真剣そのものだ。日本国民全員の期待を背負っているので、そのプレッシャーは並大抵ではないはずだ。試合が終わった瞬間、見事にあ...柔道金メダルの石井選手の言葉、「自分は負けることは許されない、勝つことを最優先して戦った。」そして見事に勝った。この石井選手に対して、「オリンピックのプレッシャー...
