Cville To Go: L's Burrito and Juice Company (now closed)
http://cvilletogo.blogspot.com/2010/03/ls-burrito-and-juice-company.html
L's Burrito and Juice Company (now closed). Subject: L's Burrito and Juice Company. Take-out vehicle: aluminum foil and a paper bag. 6/8/10 update: L's has closed. I'll be honest: I wasn't looking forward to reviewing L's. In fact, I'd been putting it off for months. See, I went there twice last year. I was so excited the first time. I remember ordering two pork tacos.then disappointment punched me like I was Charlie Murphy in Studio 54. He said. "Well, the pork burritos are good.". Do it for me. Fir...
Cville To Go: May 2010
http://cvilletogo.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Subject: Last Call Dogs. Take-out vehicle: paper sleeve. Once a to-go blogger, always a to-go blogger, I suppose. I spotted the bright yellow Last Call Dogs. Truck at the Levon Helm. Concert on Saturday and, despite my new appreciation for local and organic foods. I just couldn't restrain myself. I mean, I can't deny myself all. The joys of life just because I'm trying to eat and live a little healthier. Until Saturday, that is. It turns out that—unlike some other mobile eateries. My weekly-ish tour of t...
Cville To Go: November 2009
http://cvilletogo.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Cobb's New York Pizza and Grill.again. Subject: Cobb's New York Pizza and Grill. Take-out vehicle: pizza box. So I made it back for a slice of pepperoni pizza. I have to say it wasn't quite worth the drive across town, but was certainly good enough to eat if I were in the neighborhood and needed a pizza fix. Though I try not to drink much of it if I can help it, I could also see this pizza pairing well with a light beer. Take-out vehicle: pizza box. Take-out vehicle: styrofoam boxes. For a long time, but...
Cville To Go: December 2009
http://cvilletogo.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Top Take-Out Fan Favorite. I've picked my three favorite take-out spots, but of all the places I've been, you've decided that your favorite is. A tie between Christian's Pizza and Beer Run. Personally, I was hoping we'd end up with a clear winner, but each of these places is deserving, so I guess it's not so bad. Congratulations to all the 2009 winners, and stay tuned for more reviews in 2010. Happy New Year's Eve, everyone. Top Take-Out Winner #3. And my final 2009 Top Take-Out Trophy goes to. And the f...
Cville To Go: Anna's Pizza #5
http://cvilletogo.blogspot.com/2010/01/annas-pizza-5.html
Subject: Anna's Pizza #5. Take-out vehicle: flimsy pizza box. As one of the few (perhaps only) pizza places in Charlottesville older than myself, I had been eager to finally try Anna's. For some time. My only excuse for not having previously done so was inconvenience, but this past Friday I finally made up my mind to take the plunge. I called ahead on my way out of the office, picked up two bottles of chianti. It was Friday, after all), and made my way across town. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

CVille Veg: In which we enjoy summer
http://cvilleveg.blogspot.com/2010/08/in-which-we-enjoy-summer.html
Searching for good vegetarian meals in Charlottesville, Virginia. Monday, August 16, 2010. In which we enjoy summer. The markets are full of delicious tomatoes, and my parsley survived the summer. So we made salad with some English cucumbers, Maldon. Sea salt, and the Laudemio. Italian extra virgin olive oil I get for Christmas from my father every year. It was simple, but it was so pretty I just had to share. Raisins) and pack into jars such as this sensible, old-fashioned one my grandfather gave me.
CVille Veg: September 2010
http://cvilleveg.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Searching for good vegetarian meals in Charlottesville, Virginia. Thursday, September 9, 2010. In which there is dressing. Even though the kids are not in school, and you might think that we're therefore immune to the tumult of the return of the "back to school" time of year, it has taken a toll on us as it always does. Meals have been simpler of late, and blog posts may be shorter for a while. Pictured is homemade blue cheese dressing, a fine dip for vegetables of all stripes. I used a gorgonzola I foun...
CVille Veg: In which we make pies
http://cvilleveg.blogspot.com/2010/11/in-which-we-make-pies.html
Searching for good vegetarian meals in Charlottesville, Virginia. Sunday, November 7, 2010. In which we make pies. I haven't been getting much baking, or any type of cooking done lately. Such is the life of a student-mother with a new kitten. Recently, Carnivorous Husband and I celebrated our twelfth wedding anniversary at a quiet (kids were elsewhere) beach condo on Fripp Island, South Carolina. We had a lovely, spicy meal at a restaurant called Yes, Thai Indeed! We picked up a book called Southern Pies.
CVille Veg: July 2010
http://cvilleveg.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Searching for good vegetarian meals in Charlottesville, Virginia. Saturday, July 31, 2010. In which I make Marcella's tomato sauce with butter. Yes, you're lo. Oking at spaghetti with tomato sauce. But it's no ordinary tomato sauce, even though it's the one my mother made, and it's the one I usually make. It's the one the Carnivorous Husband created for me time and again as I recovered from the birth of Miss Voracious. Actually, i. T is possibly the only meal he's ever made from scratch. We've also had o...
Cville To Grow: The Dos and D'ohs! of Gardening, Part Three: I Made a Pepper!
http://cvilletogrow.blogspot.com/2010/06/dos-and-dohs-of-gardening-part-3-i-made.html
Saturday, June 19, 2010. The Dos and D'ohs! Of Gardening, Part Three: I Made a Pepper! Here it is, the first product of the vegetable garden I re-planted. A few weeks ago: an Anaheim chili. I probably should have taken a picture of it while still on the plant, but I was too excited. I did manage not to eat it raw, however, opting instead to save it for the chicken and veggie tostadas I made last night. Jeannine @ Small and Chic. June 20, 2010 at 5:57 AM. Can I get on the CSA list now? The Dos and Dohs!
Cville To Grow: April 2010

Friday, April 30, 2010. Babes in the Wood: Ground Pork. Mmmmpork. My favorite protein. Thanks to Babes in the Wood. I got myself a good pound of the stuff just to make this recipe. I wish I could say that the scallions and the mushrooms were local and organic too, but I cant. Maybe next time. The soba noodles, however, were. Organic. But enough of that.was it any good? Labels: Babes in the Wood. Monday, April 26, 2010. Thursday, April 22, 2010. Wolf Creek Farm: Stew Beef. Let's see what I can find.
Cville To Grow: More squash...but aren't they cute?
http://cvilletogrow.blogspot.com/2010/06/more-squashbut-arent-they-cute.html
Friday, June 18, 2010. More squash.but aren't they cute? I seem to be on a bit of a squash kick lately, but I just couldn't pass up this trio of baby rounds from Down Branch Farms via Retail Relay. Or Relay Foods, as they are now called). Pretty as the were, I couldn't bear to do anything but simply halve, season, and roast them. As for the leftover zucchini and yellow squash from last week: they had a date with my shredder. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Can be great if you're in a hurry, but nothi...
Cville To Grow: The Dos and D'ohs! of Gardening, Part Two: Forget Band-Aids, I Need Beer
http://cvilletogrow.blogspot.com/2010/05/dos-and-dohs-of-gardening-part-two.html
Monday, May 17, 2010. The Dos and D'ohs! Of Gardening, Part Two: Forget Band-Aids, I Need Beer. So, with my dad's help, I finally got around to moving my garden to the other side of my backyard. About an hour into digging the 36 square-foot plot, he summed up our efforts pretty effectively: "You know, they used to make prisoners do this kinda stuff.". I don't doubt it. Essentially, we were doing one of those easy monte. Here's hoping for some goodies by mid-July. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Thursday, May 27, 2010. Part Two: And It's Healthy! Using the organic grass-fed milk available through Retail Relay. And in some stores here in Cville), Ive made a fair bit of microwave cheese since my first post. On the subject a few weeks ago. Ive found its great in enchiladas, lasagna, and on bread instead of butter, but an old friend of mine just posted some interesting info that has nothing to do with taste. Monday, May 24, 2010. Pasta Valente: Vegetable Pasta. Monday, May 17, 2010. Here's just anot...
Cville To Grow: Adventures with Rhubarb
http://cvilletogrow.blogspot.com/2010/06/adventures-with-rhubarb.html
Thursday, June 3, 2010. I have had very little experience with rhubarb in my life. In fact, I don't even recall being introduced to it until sometime in my teens, and then it was only in passing. I do recall believing it to be some sort of celery, so that probably didn't help things (I'm not a big celery fan.unless it's prettied up with some peanut butter and raisins). For strawberry rhubarb crisp. So, I allowed my burgeoning inner seasonal eater to take the wheel, and a'rhubarb shopping I went. Suzanne ...
