End to End Challenge

End to End Challenge. Thursday, 4 June 2009. The long and winding road.home. 92956 miles and, and there's no more of Scotland left, and here to prove it is the John O'Groats harbour with the ferry to the Orkneys. And so as we rumble South in our faithful. Panzer' our thoughts turn to home, to family and friends, will they recognise us, will they welcome us? Can we manage without eating every hour, and will we take time to manage to sleep more than five hours at a time. And the descent to Loch Fyne. The b...

End to End Challenge: Hot, Hot, Hot

http://cyclinglandsendjohnogroats.blogspot.com/2009/05/lands-end-bodmin-so-tonight-we-are-up.html

End to End Challenge. Sunday, 24 May 2009. Hot, Hot, Hot. Lands End - Bodmin,. So, tonight we are up on Bodmin moor, and we may meet the beast of Bodmin! Our lovely camp site owner has donated the camp site fee for both nights to our charity. A big shout for the camp site at Higher Pengelly, just a mile or so from the lovely village of Blisland. It's been a great day and and a great start, meeting a few other 'end to enders' and having the obligatory photo session on the cliff edge. 24 May 2009 at 18:41.

End to End Challenge: The Panzer 'Wagon'

http://cyclinglandsendjohnogroats.blogspot.com/2009/04/panzer-wagon.html

End to End Challenge. Monday, 27 April 2009. We took a while to decide on the best method of transport. We thought of using bed and breakfasts, ride with an organised group, quickly discounted camping, and eventually decided a camper van would be best. However we were both shocked at the price of even the oldest of these venerable vehicles. After a short search we bid and won an auction for a 2 litre diesel Peugeot Hymer. With no way of removing the wheel nuts it was the AA to the rescue! The work on the...

End to End Challenge: Minutes to go.......And they are off!!

http://cyclinglandsendjohnogroats.blogspot.com/2009/05/minutes-to-goand-they-are-off.html

End to End Challenge. Sunday, 24 May 2009. Minutes to go.And they are off! Final farewells, to our families yesterday and the long drive south began late afternoon. And now as we drive the last 20 miles to the 'end of the world' we are all delighted with the performance of the 'Panzer'. It was one of the few unknowns, in that we had never had the vehicle fully loaded on the Motorway for mile after mile. It has been brilliant, with a steady 55 mph and we think we have manged over 20mpg!

End to End Challenge: Shaken but not stirred......

http://cyclinglandsendjohnogroats.blogspot.com/2009/05/shaken-but-not-stirred.html

End to End Challenge. Monday, 25 May 2009. Shaken but not stirred. Day Two. Bodmin to Samford Peverell. A great day starting with a few climbs, over Bodmin moor, and then Dartmoor, we managed to get within a knats whisker of 1000ft, two or three times, but not quite. We had a glorious run into Exeter in the warm sunshine and had lunch on the banks of the Exe. A final thrash up the B3181, saw us into camp at 4.30pm. Metrics are these: 79.2miles. Average 13.6 mph, 5hrs 46mins in the saddle.

End to End Challenge: Some days are just tough....

http://cyclinglandsendjohnogroats.blogspot.com/2009/05/some-days-are-just-tough.html

End to End Challenge. Friday, 29 May 2009. Some days are just tough. Day Six - Warrington to Penrith. And today was one of them, but also brilliant. We are esconsed above the town of Penrith, in a beautiful campsite with the sun setting down behind the Lakeland trees, and the swallows darting hither and thither. But enough of this romantic scene, how about our day? We spent last night nestling between the two huge footballing cities of Manchester and. The heat was powerful, with occasional cloud cover to...
