We stayed at the Samuel Taylor Park on the way into San Francisco which is about 36 kilometres from Sausalito and the Golden Gate Bridge. Crossing the Golden Gate on a bike was a highlight. It is fantastic to see how popular the ride is and how important it is to the tourist industry. It is very busy on the bridge bikeway in the weekends.

Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate rememberance of a country you have driven throgh as you gain by riding a bicycle.
