Cycling with Heart - (and) Having a Go: January 2009

http://cyclingwithheart.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Cycling with Heart - (and) Having a Go. Cycling for fun, fitness and friendship. Saturday, 24 January 2009. More than a race. Very hot, very humid. So why not stay home and take it easy? Because there is bike race at 8.15am and you need to sign on, warm up and race. It’s fun, it’s satisfying, good people and provides an extra focus for training during the week. It was a normal criterion meeting at the Nundah circuit in Northern suburban Brisbane, Australia. So I asked how old he was and he is 70. Thi...

Cycling with Heart - (and) Having a Go: July 2009

http://cyclingwithheart.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Cycling with Heart - (and) Having a Go. Cycling for fun, fitness and friendship. Thursday, 23 July 2009. Information - Help or Hinder. Anyone I have communicated with who is remotely involved in cycling, and many people who are not would have been informed with not very much humility of my Mt Coot-tha climb on Tuesday morning. It was dark, it was cold and I confess to asking myself just what the hell I was doing there. Having nothing to distract me, I simply concentrating on my pedal stroke and breathing.

Cycling with Heart - (and) Having a Go: December 2008

http://cyclingwithheart.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Cycling with Heart - (and) Having a Go. Cycling for fun, fitness and friendship. Saturday, 27 December 2008. I ride a 2003 model Trek 2300. It is equipped with full ultegra componentry (9 speed), standard Bontragger Race Light wheels and the standard issue San Marco saddle. It is a US made unit and at the time of purchase, was at the bottom of the Trek elite range of bikes. (This was the pre Madone era). The frame is aluminum, as is the seat post and handle bars. Folks are carbon. Why is a friend living ...

Cycling with Heart - (and) Having a Go: Un-Banged

http://cyclingwithheart.blogspot.com/2009/10/un-banged.html

Cycling with Heart - (and) Having a Go. Cycling for fun, fitness and friendship. Sunday, 11 October 2009. It is nearly eight weeks since I did my impersonation of a pinball by bouncing between two cars and busting up a bunch of bones and puncturing a lung. I first rode again after four weeks but it was more of a token gesture ride and perhaps a need to get back on the bike sooner rather than later in case I decided not to get back on the bike at all. Last Thursday I decided to meet the participants in Br...

Cycling with Heart - (and) Having a Go: All About the Mind

http://cyclingwithheart.blogspot.com/2010/01/all-about-mind.html

Cycling with Heart - (and) Having a Go. Cycling for fun, fitness and friendship. Thursday, 14 January 2010. All About the Mind. As reported on various occasions, I became intimate with a couple of cars back in August 2009 and busted a number of bones. While I am still experiencing some discomfort as a result of the injuries, day to day life is not far from normal including my cycling activities. In fact, I even managed to get back and do some races before the Christmas competition break. Virtually all my...

Philosophy Fun Fitness and Fantasy. Dialogue about what is important and what the world needs more of. Up I went, pedal stroke and breathing. I overtook a few peop...

The Diary of an Epileptic Ultra Cyclist

The Diary of an Epileptic Ultra Cyclist. Saturday, 25 March 2017. What Are Your Limits? So, do I um. cycle? Well yes, just a bit. I had, had a seizure. But what was interesting about it, was specifically how it came about. To one of Scotland's most experienced and senior sport doctors, Dr. John MacLean, who helped me inside the SCROPS show, to Dr. Christian Delles and his team, Dr Johnpillai, Dr Bogie and the rest of the ICU staff, I can't be grateful enough. What one of the ICU doctors said next however...
