Friday, 1 February 2013. Dylan Thomas' poem Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night. To bring out the somber tone of the poem. The poet uses these three key features to bring somberness to his poem about death. Thomas' rhythm in the poem, is in iamic pentameter. Because of this, five stressed, five unstressed beat. It gives a talking sound, making it hard or near impossible to read fast, or upbeat. Because of this, it makes the poem seem somber, formal, and serious, adding to the tone.
