Cynthia Sherrick: The Plot Thickens...
http://cynthiasherrick.blogspot.com/2014/04/the-plot-thickens.html
Sunday, April 20, 2014. Last week I wrote about the importance of plot in a story. How writing a plotting outline can help to enhance the process and save the writer time in the long run. Keep in mind even with an outline, we careen off the beaten path. and that's okay. The characters and their journey evolve as we traverse the long and winding road to the end of our completed manuscript. Since they are so often mentioned and woven together it is sometimes difficult to recognize. Like a plot in a book.
Cynthia Sherrick: Writing Contests
http://cynthiasherrick.blogspot.com/2014/04/writing-contests.html
Monday, April 28, 2014. It's been a crazy busy week. I'm a fiction writer - a yet to be published fiction writer - so my expertise in regards to writing contests is about submitting and judging in the unpublished categories. I have entered a few but have judged many. Judging can be a wonderful way to improve our own writing! Although having a critique partner and perhaps a plotting partner is important to the writing process, a fresh perspective from an unknown writer can definitely be illuminating.

http://cynthiasherrick.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 31, 2012. Ring in the New Year. Have a Happy, Healthy New Year! And a creative, fulfilling 2013 :). Wednesday, December 26, 2012. With one year coming to a close and another on the horizon, I prepare for reflections and resolutions. The news conglomerates talk of nothing else except what has happened over the last twelve months (unless, of course, another tragic, traumatic event happens during this time). 2013 resolutions to come soon. Enjoy the rest of 2012. Monday, December 24, 2012.
Cynthia Sherrick: September 2013
http://cynthiasherrick.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 22, 2013. I'm not certain what happened - other than life speeding by faster than a F5 hurricane - but one minute it was February and now it's the first day of Fall. The old cliché:. In the blink of an eye. I visited a local retail store yesterday, here in my hometown, and was surprised to discover their Christmas displays were out in full force. Really? I'm looking at you. The first order of business - start posting on my blog again! So here I am. Check back soon (very soon!
Cynthia Sherrick: It's All Subjective
http://cynthiasherrick.blogspot.com/2014/05/its-all-subjective.html
Monday, May 5, 2014. What is your favorite book? How about your favorite movie? Have you ever watched a movie or read a book on someone's else's rave review and come away disappointed? As we all know, this happens. We may not always agree with the other writer's viewpoint, however it's important to keep an open mind. Our stories are like our children. We create them, work on them, nurture them. help them grow into a solid piece of writing to share with the world. Entering writing contests is one way to r...

Random Acts of Writing...: Simply Similes
http://lauriesmithmurphy.blogspot.com/2013/11/simply-similes.html
Random Acts of Writing. I come from a family of writers. Friday, November 22, 2013. Students shine as bright as the stars in the night sky. Once again, I want to share the similes my students have written. We read Tending to Grace. By my good friend, Kim Fusco, to begin the year. It's my way of introducing the students to beautiful language, lovely descriptions, and sweet similes. Kim's first page shows the sad life of her protagonist, Cornelia, with these words:. I'm as fragile as ice hitting the ground.
Karen Lingefelt: The Annual Christmas Shopping Post, 2012 Edition

Even though we’ve acquired everything requested (save for the newest. Movie that doesn’t come out till next Tuesday), we still have an ample amount left in the budget, so Mr. Lucky and I went to the mall today to do some extra Christmas shopping. It was actually a wooden puzzle which I’ve. I think he wanted.
Karen Lingefelt: March 2013
http://karenlingefelt.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 22, 2013. The Friday Morning Bear Report. Baby Bear was up at 4:30 this morning. I went into his room to find him fully dressed, all the sheets ripped from his bed, and the bed itself completely disassembled. A suspicious puddle lurked in the corner, just waiting for my bare foot to step into it. Oddly enough, the light was off, but it couldn’t be turned on without yanking on the pull-chain in the ceiling fan. Yet I couldn’t turn it on for the following reasons:. The only reason I didn̵...
Karen Lingefelt: WAGERED TO THE DUKE by Karen Lingefelt
http://karenlingefelt.blogspot.com/2013/03/wagered-to-duke-by-karen-lingefelt.html
Thursday, March 7, 2013. WAGERED TO THE DUKE by Karen Lingefelt. The Truth About Georgiana. Written in 2005, had a secondary character for whom I never intended to write a book. Her name was Kate Baxter, and she was the hero’s sister. She wore spectacles, enjoyed playing the pianoforte, and expressed opinions that everyone else preferred she keep to herself. In the original version of. Kate was betrothed at the end of the book to a timid widower old enough to be her father. Early last year, as I gave.
Karen Lingefelt: PRIDE AND PROMISES by Karen Lingefelt
http://karenlingefelt.blogspot.com/2012/10/pride-and-promises-by-karen-lingefelt.html
Wednesday, October 3, 2012. PRIDE AND PROMISES by Karen Lingefelt. Who’s up for some “fun facts” about my newest Regency Historical? Was written in 2006. It was the first book I wrote on a laptop, which Mr. Lucky gave to me the previous Christmas. I saved my work in a folder marked “UR5” for “Unpublished Regency No. 5.” I was about a third of the way through the book when I decided the story wasn’t working at all, so I dumped the whole thing and started over. Tampa Area Romance Authors. And there was oth...

http://rsmithjohnson.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-visit-to-massachusetts-poetry-festival.html
Saturday, May 9, 2015. A Visit to the Massachusetts Poetry Festival. A week ago, I had the opportunity to attend the 7. Annual Massachusetts Poetry Festival in Salem, Massachusetts. The festival ran from Thursday, April 30 through Sunday, May 3. It has long been a dream of mine to participate in this event, so it was thrilling to get the opportunity to travel to a place celebrating poets. Next, we traveled over cobblestone streets to the Old Town Hall. Our reading was to take place on the 2.

Tuesday, March 29, 2016. It isn't very often I write anything deeply personal on my blog or Facebook or on any public forum but I feel like sharing a bit about the man I loved. Thirty years ago this spring, I met the man who became my husband. Ours was a slow building romance, although there was attraction and chemistry when we first met, we were both let's take it slow. I put on a brave face that communicated: I don't care. everything will be okay. Once the divorce was final, and a few months had passed...

Places, People, History, Poetry, and More. Monday, November 9, 2015. The Green Stick" by Reg van Cuylenburg. I remember meeting Reg van Cuylenburg in the 1970s in Ojai, California- he was the husband of my friend Margaret Dodd. I knew he was an artist, but I had no real idea about his origins and upbringing in early 20th century Ceylon. The entire volume is illustrated with Reg's photographs of Ceylon's natural beauty, people, and places. I found The Green Stick. Saturday, October 24, 2015. Bill is showi...
