Czechesotans: July 2015
http://www.czechesotans.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Stumbling on cobblestones, yet smiling. Saturday, July 25, 2015. Gift cards in the garden. My beloved little (29-year-old) sister got married this past weekend in Minnesota, and I've been riding waves of nostalgia and disbelief. Is the baby who liked to pet the dead fish we caught in the creek below our house really that stunning woman in an ethereal white gown? Is the toddler who teethed on a SuperGlu tube and cemented her little gums together really walking down a flowered aisle to stringed music?

Thither art 1) many inexpensive theatrical opportunities and 2) some of the world's most meritorious scenography. Tis a silver bow. Stumbling on cobblestones, yet smiling. Wednesday, April 1, 2015. It’s been awhile! If you actually read this blog, apologies for the radio silence. It’s been a trying couple of months; we have some loved ones back home in difficult circumstances and have been focusing on them. Your prayers are beyond appreciated – as is your positive energy if you’re not a practitioner of a faith! Here are a few bits we’ve enjoyed finding out about…. We've been enthusiasts of the pop-up Dyzajn Market. At Holešovice....
Czechesotans: Rachel.
http://www.czechesotans.blogspot.com/2015/05/rachel.html
Stumbling on cobblestones, yet smiling. Thursday, May 14, 2015. Almost 36 years ago, my mom gave birth to me in a hospital in Grand Forks, ND. She shared a room with a gal from another town who had a baby girl two days after me. That baby's name was Rachel. I didn't see Rachel again until primary school; she had been attending a rural co-op and her parents moved her to the "bigger" educational institution, i.e. Larimore Elementary, where our grade had a whopping 48 kids. We became fast friends. It made p...
Czechesotans: The museum that dad built
http://www.czechesotans.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-museum-that-dad-built.html
Stumbling on cobblestones, yet smiling. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. The museum that dad built. Childhood was interesting. I had things like orphaned baby owls and moose as pets. We ate roadkill. Drunk men called our house at 1 am wanting to settle bets over wildlife knowledge. I learned how to identify ducks and cross a barbed-wire fence holding a 12-gauge shotgun. Hit a deer on the road? He cleaned it up, hoisting a couple hundred pounds into his pickup. Had a wildlife question? Poached out of season?

Dispatches from the shores of Lake Superior. Mark vs. the Broom Closet Monster. December 8, 2016. Imagine an out-of-order telephone booth planted between your refrigerator and dining room table. Mark launches an assault on the Broom Closet Monster. That’s the oversized broom closet in the NickMoore Hotel kitchen. It had to go. Yes, it was time for something new. I assembled a black metal, five-shelf storage unit purchased at the recently opened Duluth Fleet Farm. Stood it up on the antique linoleum a...

Dispatches from the shores of Lake Superior. Chopping ice with a baseball bat. January 19, 2017. At first I thought the woman on the roof was using her baseball bat as a cane. Dispatches from the shores of Lake Superior. If the Internet had a nose. June 4, 2016. The Internet can see. It can talk. It can hear. It can sing. But the Internet can’t smell. Depending on your point of view, the Internet has either unmercifully ruined or vastly improved the way we see photographs, movies and world news. Dispatches from the shores of Lake Superior. January 26, 2017. Nooks and crannies of a city always look better at night. Dispatches from the shores of Lake Superior. The marble and the manhole cover. September 29, 2016. Manhole covers don’t belong in a river bottom. Marbles don’t belong on a beach. Dispatches from the shores of Lake Superior. Victoria’s Secret. A knife. A Merry Christmas. December 27, 2016.
