Photos on Rajce.net. Thursday, 4 August 2011. Skiing (snowboarding, actually) for the first time! Da crew. Click for more pictures. That's right; up until yesterday I was a skiing virgin. I've actually seen a real snowboard for the first time in my life. What does it matter that I'm almost thirty years old - better late than never, right? Matt tackling the big slope,. Peter sitting and watching. Needless to say we politely refused). The models say hello. How do you drive this bloody thing? Cestananovyzel...

Frodo and the ring! I'm finally going to see the famous mountains used to film Mordor, and one of New Zealand's most stunning places. Or so I thought. Takes its name from Mount Tongariro. 1978m), but there are two more - Mount Ngauruhoe. 2291m) and Mount Ruapehu. Some fun at last! By the way, I should probably s...

http://www.bloggerstorm.com/2012/12/cycling-north-island-day-08-forgotten.html
Photos on Rajce.net. Sunday, 9 December 2012. Cycling the North Island - Day 08 - The Forgotten World Highway. Saturday, 1st December. After one exciting and one totally lazy day in Stratford, I finally took off again. Stratford's at the western end of the 153km long Forgotten World Highway. On the Pacific Crest Trail, a 2600-mile trail from Mexico to Canada. Having done a similar long-distance hike myself (Pyrenees, 800km in five weeks), I identified myself with many passages. Monday, 3rd December.

GameStorm 2.0: Third week at the winery - a hermit among the crowd
http://www.bloggerstorm.com/2012/03/third-week-at-winery-hermit-amont-crowd.html
Photos on Rajce.net. Monday, 12 March 2012. Third week at the winery - a hermit among the crowd. No, just another Sunday morning. Cleaning tanks, cutting weeds, flying in a helicopter, becoming a hermit on temp-contract. in other words, pretty uneventful two weeks. I ended up doing some vineyard work, too, but it was a new thing (putting nets on), so again something different, and at the end of the day I got a free helicopter ride! It's quite unusual to be just hovering in mid-air without moving. View my...

GameStorm 2.0: Cycling the North Island - Day 06 - Mt Taranaki
http://www.bloggerstorm.com/2012/12/cycling-north-island-day-06-mt-taranaki.html
Photos on Rajce.net. Saturday, 8 December 2012. Cycling the North Island - Day 06 - Mt Taranaki. What started as utter hell turned out to be a great day. I climbed up Mt Taranaki, enjoyed amazing views and an exhilarating ride back to town. As difficult as it was to negotiate the scree on the way up, it was an exhilarating slide down, followed by a jog down the stairs (I've had a lot of practice on the long escalators in Prague's underground). GameStorm 2.0: The Scandinavian Expedition 2010 - Diary Day 33-35

Photos on Rajce.net. Wednesday, 4 August 2010. The Scandinavian Expedition 2010 - Diary Day 33-35. My trip was far from over when I wrote the last entry in my diary, but I didn't feel like writing anymore (I guess the holiday changed from real adventure to a more traditional-style trip as I approached the more populated South). This entry is therefore a brief retrospective look at that last bit of my Scandinavian Expedition. Mikkeli - the home of several WW2 museums. Hey, the truck is on fire! Click for ...

GameStorm 2.0: Thou shalt not bringeth a Spoon for Thy lunch. Thou shalt bringeth a Carrot
http://www.bloggerstorm.com/2011/08/thou-shall-not-bringeth-spoon-for-thy.html
Photos on Rajce.net. Monday, 29 August 2011. Thou shalt not bringeth a Spoon for Thy lunch. Thou shalt bringeth a Carrot. When you're old and sclerotic like me and your best friend's name is Alzheimer, you will often need to improvise. For example when you're in the middle of nowhere, it's lunchtime, you have a nice box full of rice and very small bits of vegetables, and you realize you didn't bring a spoon. In this post I'll show you how it's done. Stage one. bite your veggie. Stage four. eat up. In the...

GameStorm 2.0: Cycling the North Island - Day 01 - Leaving Wellington

Photos on Rajce.net. Tuesday, 27 November 2012. Cycling the North Island - Day 01 - Leaving Wellington. Welcome to the North Island. My cycle-tour of the North Island has finally started and I'll try to blog about it as often as possible. I haven't properly sorted my photos, so just adding a few ones make the post more colourful. What a crazy way to start! Middle of Middle Earth - that's the marketing slogan. For Wellington's world premiere of the Hobbit movie. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thou sh...
