Warm Bottles & Hot Flashes: June 2009
http://warmbottlesandhotflashes.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 22, 2009. I miss my sis. Tuesday, June 2, 2009. It's not you, it's me. I’ve hit a period of malaise and it’s lasted longer than I thought it would. April is the anniversary month of Josh’s diagnosis. It seems that I slow down every April. It was such a time of helplessness and uncertainty. It was the beginning of the end of what was, up to that point, the best part of my life. Spring comes and I seem to hit an icy patch. But I tend to drop a lot of extras and let a lot of projects slide.

Warm Bottles & Hot Flashes: My Bad...
http://warmbottlesandhotflashes.blogspot.com/2009/03/ok-youre-going-to-see-this-coming-as.html
Monday, March 2, 2009. OK – you’re going to see this coming as soon as I start to tell the story. I’ll begin by saying that I’ve tried to spin this numerous ways in my head and I can’t come up with anything that can possibly exonerate me. I have experience in entrusting my hair to someone else. A dear friend colors my hair. Before she slathered the first dose of 5N on my roots we made a pact that any mistakes or disasters would have no bearing on our friendship. Fortunately because of this pr...So Sunday...

Warm Bottles & Hot Flashes: July 2008
http://warmbottlesandhotflashes.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 31, 2008. July 25: The Loooooong Journey Home. Big sister and proud of it! Thanks to our role model "A" for the t-shirt! Our day began at 3:00 am. All four alarms worked, so Gordon and I were well awake and ready to go on time. Gracie: not so much. She gave me some flash forwards to her teenage years, burrowing under the covers saying: “I want to sleeeeeeeep! 8221; Since Danny is used to a 4:00 am feeding, he was a more willing participant. My last triumph using my limited Spanish vocabula...

Warm Bottles & Hot Flashes: September 2008
http://warmbottlesandhotflashes.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 25, 2008. I’d venture to say that all adoptive families are astounded at how “right” their adoptive children are for their families. During all the frustrations and delays that kept us from sending in our initial paperwork, I kept telling myself that it would all be worth it because if not for the delays we would not have the child who was meant for us. If you see babies from Guatemala you might say, “What are the odds that there would even be a bald Guatemalan baby, and what ar...

Danny - One Year. Danny - Eighteen Months. Sunday, March 8, 2009. The State of the Union. For all enquiring minds: yes we are still married. Fortunately hair does grow back and with a little tapering, a little mascara, one can hardly tell the carnage that occurred last week. The State of the Family. Aside from batt...

Warm Bottles & Hot Flashes: May 2008
http://warmbottlesandhotflashes.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 23, 2008. My sweet girl gives me reason to smile every day. And often I’m smiling and scratching my head at the same time. The imagination of a toddler is a strange and wondrous place. Adult logic and sensibilities never enter the picture (thank goodness! If I’m lucky, I am witness to the creative scene setting and I get to hear some background information. But most of the time I stumble across a gem unexpectedly. Monday, May 19, 2008. Finally, Some May Flowers. Posted a link to a new Central...

Warm Bottles & Hot Flashes: January 2009
http://warmbottlesandhotflashes.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 19, 2009. Today was a good day. A holiday: Martin Luther King, Jr. day. To top it off, the sun was shining and temperatures were nearly 20 degrees. There were light snow flurries all day long with huge snowflakes drifting down. It was as if we were in a snow globe. As Gracie and I ventured out to run some errands we could actually feel the warmth of the sun on our skin. How could it be, I wondered, that everyone was in the same happy place as me? Then I looked down and I remembered. All t...

Warm Bottles & Hot Flashes: Finally!!
http://warmbottlesandhotflashes.blogspot.com/2009/04/finally.html
Wednesday, April 1, 2009. It's been awhile, but I've been busy. At least I can cross one thing off the list: my bathroom shower project is finally finished. I think it's OK for a first try. The truth is that we have a new pet and it's HUGE - we spend all our time feeding it! It looks like you got to the Children's Museum! We'll have to meet there sometime. London would LOVE it! April 2, 2009 at 8:20 AM. April 4, 2009 at 9:03 PM. Just checking in on you and hoping that everything is fine! Children in our ...
